    WEIR, Doreen Ann …

    Suddenly at Victoria Hospital, London on Tuesday, May 30, 2023, Doreen Ann Weir (nee Whittingham) passed away in her 83rd year. Beloved wife and best friend for 41 years to the late James “Jim” Weir (2003). Dear mother of Deborah Cairns and her husband John, and Scott Weir.  Adored grandmother of Britnee Weir (Peter), Kymberlyn Linkiewicz (Syd), and Olivia Cairns (Matt). Sister of Gerald Whittingham (Wendy), Pat Charters (Don) and sister-in-law of Linda Whittingham and Penni Steele (Wayne). Predeceased by her parents Frances and Dick Whittingham, and brother Dick Whittingham. Doreen will be lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews, and friends. Doreen enjoyed spending time surrounded by her friends at Harmony Woods Trailer Park in Parkhill. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the nurses in Oncology at Victoria Hospital, for their care and compassion. Family and friends are welcomed to visitation one hour prior(12-1pm) to the funeral service being conducted on Monday, June 5, 2023, at 1pm at the A.     Peacefully, at University Hospital in London with his loved ones by his side, on Monday, May 22, 2023 in his 61st year. Loving father to David & Kelsey, Mathew & Tori, Jeff, Katy and Nerissa. Beloved companion to Cathie & Blaze. Caring son of the late Murray & Marilyn. Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Dave’s life will be held on Thursday, June 8, 2023, at 5 pm at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 317, 311 Oakland Avenue, London.   • Robert Gauthier

    GAUTHIER, Robert…

    Robert Gauthier at the young age of 56, passed away on Monday, May 22nd, 2023. His family is deeply saddened by his sudden and short battle with cancer.

    Robert leaves behind his wife and best friend Dorinda of 22 years. They lived in London with their two dogs, Layla and Radisson and their 5 cats.

    He will be forever missed by his siblings in Montreal, Clement (Lise), Diane (Gilles), Martine (Francois), his twin brother Richard (Nathalie) and several nieces and nephews. As well as his mother-in law Sue Roy and brother-in law Jeff (Krissi).

    He was predeceased by his parents Guy and Germaine, brother Jean and father-in-law Glen Roy.

    Robert was born and raised in Montreal, where he studied Civil Engineering and then later went on to working in research. Dorinda moved to Montreal for work where she met Robert. They married in 2003 and in 2004 they moved to London where they both worked at London Health Sciences Centre. For 19 years Robert worked as a Viviarium Animal Technician for Lawson Health Research Institute.

    Robert was so kind and passionate. He enjoyed travelling and one of his favourite places was Germany. You could often find Robert watching Star Trek, science or history shows. He loved learning new languages and his favourite band was Judas Priest. Robert’s jokes, storytelling and his love will leave a huge place in our hearts. The belly rubs, cuddles and walks will never be the same for Layla and Radisson.

    Cremation has taken place. Robert’s wishes were to be buried in the future alongside his wife in his family plot in Montreal. In memory of Robert, please join us on September 17th, 2023, for the Terry Fox run/walk under the team name “Team Gauthier” or if you prefer to donate to the event or to a charity of your choice.   • Elly Pozsonyi

    Pozsonyi, Elly…

    Elly passed away on May 21, 2023, surrounded by loved ones. Elly was a beloved wife to Dave Jankowski for 20 years; stepmother to Heather Jankowski and Emma Jankowski (Alberto) both of Toronto; and step grandmother to Eva and Rio. She will be greatly missed by extended family and friends.

    Elly is predeceased by her sister, her mother, and her father, Mary and Peter Klarlund of Copenhagen, Denmark. She is also predeceased by her previous husband Richard Pozsonyi. Elly will also be missed by her dear friend Terri Deevey. Terri has been a best friend, business partner, confidant, and daughter to Elly.

    Elly loved to travel and moved to South Africa from Denmark at the age of 20 where she lived for ten years. She traveled extensively and moved to Canada in her 30s.  Her interests included stained glass work and painting. She enjoyed listening to the Blues and gardening. But it was her love for animals that presided over all else.

    Cremation has taken place. A Gathering of Remembrance will take place at the A. Millard George Funeral Home, 60 Ridout Street South, London on Monday, May 29, 2023 from 12-2:30 pm. A reception will follow.

    Vilma passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 20, 2023 in her 78th year.  Friends and family are invited to visitation on Sunday, May 28, 2023 at the A.   • Anna “Yvonne” Poulton

    POULTON (Raine), Anna “Yvonne”…

    Yvonne passed away peacefully in London, Ontario on May 19, 2023, in her 98th year. 

    Yvonne will be greatly missed by her nephew Greg Middaugh (Brenda) of Hillsburgh, great niece Remily (Brent) of Burks Falls, her sister-in-law; Margaret Baker of Arizona and step-daughter Sandra Murphy of London.  She will be missed by her cherished extended family.

    Yvonne will also be missed by her dear friend Anne Gustin who has been a tremendous blessing to both Yvonne and her family by always being there providing compassion and support. Special thanks to Karen who supported Anne while she supported us.  

    Yvonne is predeceased by her husband Archie Poulton (2004) and first husband William “Arthur” Raine (1994).  Also predeceased by three sisters; June, Maxine and Vivian (2018).   

    The family would like to thank the staff at Mount Hope Long Term Care and Chartwell Riverside, London for their caring and kindness in the last 3 years.

    Yvonne was a long standing member of Elmwood Presbyterian Church.  She enjoyed many years singing in church choirs. Yvonne also looked forward to cards and coffee hour with her friends at Gartshore Apartments.

    It is with great sadness that I announce the passing of my mother, Edna Beryl MacMillan-Silverman, of London, on Thursday, May 18, 2023 in her 91st year. Predeceased by her beloved husband Denis Silverman (Feb. 13, 2018) and her mother, Lilian May Holland and father Frank Holland. Also predeceased by sisters Joyce Croft and Brenda Holland, and brother Dennis and Roger Holland. Survived by her daughter Christine Flewin; sisters Nancy Carter and Lilian Gilbert; grandchildren Rachelle Hewitt (Cory) and Michelle Benjamin (Dave); great-grandchildren Justin Flewin, Crystal Hewitt, Chantal Hewitt, Brittany Benjamin and Tyler Benjamin. A video of Beryl in memory and celebration of her life will be posted on social media in the coming weeks. Celebration of life will be announced at a later date.     March 25, 1930 – May 18, 2023

    It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Maria “Mary” Jacoba Josephina in her 94th year. Beloved Wife of the late Johannes Richardus (2014). Much loved Mother of Elly (Rob), Mary (Martin), Jo-Ann (Al), John (Debbie), and Sylvia. Adored Oma of Lena (Jeff), David (Meghen), Joe (Mallory), Jon (Melissa), Christine (Evan), and Savanna (Rakesh). Precious Great Oma of Sophie, Ellie, Alivia, Emilee, Jakob, Lucas, and Nicholas. Predeceased by her parents Cornelis and Hendrika Maria, and brothers and sisters, Cornelia (Gerard), Cees (Nel), Wim (Jans), Harrie (Thea), Nelly (Harrie), Jan, and Jacoba. Fondly remembered by her many in-laws, nieces, nephews, and close friends.

    Mary was born in Zeeland (N. Br.) Netherlands, where she married Joe (1954) and immigrated to London, Ontario, Canada (1960) with 3 children and welcomed 2 more children in London. Mary lived each and every day as a very proud and very loving Mom, Oma, and Great Oma. She also loved and cherished time spent with friends.

    Thank you to the staff and residents for the wonderful years Mary had at Ashwood Manor. Mary’s family is very grateful for the loving support and care she received from staff in the ER, Medicine and Palliative Care Units at Victoria Hospital. A very special thank you to the Family, Nurses, Granddaughter Lena and Grandson Jon.

    Mary will be deeply missed by all those who loved her.

    With her family by her side, Lilian Miranda passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 17, 2023, at Victoria Hospital, London at the age of 68.

    Loving mom of Heidy Miranda and her spouse Chris Lamond and Conrado Miranda and his spouse Kristin Gunn. Adored Abuela of Audrey and Lilian. Dear sister of Margoth, Estela, Juan, Jorge, Tita and Alicia. Predeceased by her son, Jose Conrado Miranda, her parents Lisandro and Juana, as well as two of her brothers Neto and Douglas. Lilian will also be missed by her nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.

    Lilian was a kind, generous and joyful woman. She enjoyed spending time in nature, whether it was in the backyard with flowers, or exploring Port Stanley beach with her pistachio ice cream in hand. She cherished her family and was a devout Jehovah Witness. She loved cooking traditional Salvadoran meals, especially with her eldest granddaughter as she got older.

    Cremation has taken place. Family and friends are welcome for visitation on Friday, May 26, 2023 from 5-8 pm at the A. Millard George Funeral Home, 60 Ridout Street South, London. A service will be held on Saturday, May 27, 2023 at 2 pm at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses, 86 Base Line Road West, London.     Peacefully on Tuesday, May 16, 2023, at The Village of Glendale Crossing in London, Thomasina “Tina” passed away in her 82nd year. Amazing and cherished mother to Heather (Michael) Judd. Beloved nana of Ashley (Alex) Davy and Christina (Justin) Hazen. Cherished great grandmother of Brianna Hazen, Jackson and Lilah Davy. Dear sister of Jenny Donaldson of Scotland, Margaret Stewart of Toronto. Predeceased by her sister Anna Dunlop, infant brother John Shaw and her much loved niece Lynn McColl. Tina was predeceased by her cherished mother Christina Shaw. She will be lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.  Tina was a cosmetician with Shoppers Drug Mart for over 30 years which brought her much joy by being able to assist all the people she got to meet. Tina loved to travel and exploring new places with her family while enjoying the sun.  Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Tina’s life will be held at a later date.  The family wishes to thank all the staff of The Village of Glendale Crossing for the wonderful care, compassion, and companionship she received. As well as many thanks to all the extended family that reached out and helped during this difficult time.
