REED:
At University Hospital, London on Thursday, April 27, 2006. Richard William Bill” Reed of Goderich in his 58th year. Beloved husband of Rita F. (Voskamp) Reed and the late Phyllis A. (Healy) Reed. Dear father of Veronica “”Ronnie”” Kenehan of Stratford”
Rita: I was so sad to learn of Bill’s passing. I had no idea that he may of been ill. I wanted you to know that I would have like to have been at the service on Wednesday, but unfortunatley I have a committment that is impossible to break away from, and cannot be rescheduled.
I most certainly have very fond memories of the times all of us had, and the very healthy debates, as well as the great Optimist occasions, and meetings as well.
Please know that you, your family, and Bill are in my prayers, and that I think of you often.
I hope to be able to see you some day, and would very much appreciate it if you could let someone know how to get in touch with you.
Please take care…
My fondest regards….John Vollmar

Rita:
Mary and I were saddened to hear of your loss and wish to pass on our most sincere condolences to you and the extended family. Times like this allow for sharing the pain that comes with the loss of a loved one and hopefully, lessens its impact. It is appropriate to recall favourable times that were shared and to think positively toward the future, as these thoughts are forever.
Warmest regards,
Walter

Rita,
I had the pleasure of having Bill as my next door neighbour in my very first year of teaching at Errol Village School, which was his last year of teaching. Bill was very supportive to me throughout the six months we taught together. Two particular occasions stood out in my mind. The first, he came over one morning to let me know that I was doing a good job with a difficult class that had many a teacher, himself included, had found challenging. This meant a lot as I saw what a wonderful teacher he was as exhibited by his classroom and his students’ sincerity in liking him. Secondly, he gave me very sound advice on my personal life. He told me to wait for the correct person before settling down. He expressed just how wonderful you were for him and how much he appreciated meeting you. Those two conversations affected my life, both professionally and personally, and helped make me what I am today. Thanks, Bill.
I am sorry for your loss,

Dear Rita,
Please know that you are both in our thoughts. Bill was more than a friend to me but also a mentor. He was a listening ear and always there for a young teacher. He was the guy who would point you to the other side of an issue. He was caring, wise and a friend. He made a mark on my life. As I have grown in years and experience, I find myself repeating much of what Bill said to me to those who now practise teach in my classroom. Paula and I, remember with deep fondness the evenings we spent together nibbling on those delicious treats you made Rita, and the discussions we all had together. Please accept our deepest sympathies and know that you are in our thoughts and prayers. We will miss him.

Dear Ronnie, Terri, Sean, and all Bill’s family
We wish to express our sympathy in the loss of your father. Bill taught our son at Errol Public school many years ago. We thought Bill was an excellent teacher and a very decent human being. Being a teacher myself, I appreciated the way he handled our son who found it difficult to finish his assignments. He was firm but very kind to our son all the while demanding that he do his very best. Our son learned a lot that year about what he could really accomplish when he was challenged. We thought very highly of your dad.
We know that you girls lost your mom at an early age so this is a double blow to you.
I hope that reading of the esteem in which we held your dad will bring you a small measure of comfort.
