As Margaret’s only nephew I’m saddened by her passing. She was the sister of my father Chester
Duff Johnston, born and raised in Stratford, Ontario. Margaret told me she was a fan of the Toronto Blue Jays and enjoyed seeing them on TV.
Margaret was an aunt to Tori and Cindy Johnston of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Julie Johnston of Santa Fe, New Mexico and Greg Johnston of Bernalillo, New Mexico.
She had two great nephews – Keith and Paul Johnston, also of Bernalillo, New Mexico.
Our thoughts and prayers are with her. May she rest in peace.
Greg Johnston
One of my best memories of Margaret was when she took Greg, Julie and I to the World’s Fair (Expo 67.) Cindy was too young to go. Margaret flew us in and drove there and back.
I knew it was great at the time, but in later years I came to really appreciate it even more. That was very generous and especially brave of Margaret to take on three teenagers aged 14, 15 and 16. Imagine! I was glad to have visited with Margaret recently and learned a bit more family history.
It was also nice to meet her friend Marg and appreciate her friendship with Margaret. I will miss my aunt but believe she truly enjoyed her life and all of her travels.
I have lost track of any other relatives but would appreciate any contact. Tori Johnston Minneapolis MN
As the youngest in the family I only met my Aunt once. It’s unfortunate that we never really got to know each other. I know that she was surrounded by loving friends, and I am comforted and thankful to know that, and I’m sure she was as well. May she rest in peace. Cindy Johnston
I remember my Aunt Margaret loved her life in London and her stories of growing up in Stratford. A few years ago, while visiting her, I watched her barely able to walk, as she continued on with her daily job of delivering the newspaper to residents in the apartment building. She cared deeply about her friends and enjoyed taking care of others. Her love for bridge was one of her life-long passions and she taught bridge to many devotees. She will be missed by many of her friends and family.

I was sad to learn of Margaret’s death yesterday, too late for her visitation and service, I’m afraid. A resident of the apt building she managed I knew her for 17 years – she spoke with great affection of her late brother and her family, especially Julie. She was well known for her love of Bridge & Euchre & an active participant & organiser of the card game evenings held here. I’m sure there is a special chair at a foursome in Heaven awaiting her. My condolences to her family and close friends………Shirley B. Sexton
