Dear Pete and family, I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your father. Having just lost our own father three months ago, Diane and I know just how difficult a time this will be for you. Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time.
Maureen Dobbins and family
I never got to meet Mr. Kelly, but I look forward to sharing in his memory through the help of his son Pete. My deepest and most sincere sympathy goes out to the Kelly family.
Kathryn, I would like to express my dearest sympathy to you and your family. I would like to take this opportunity to share with you some of my memories of Hugh. I worked as a TRS in Central Leisure at Parkwood and had the opportunity to meet Hugh in some of the music and bingo programs. I particularly remember introducing musical bingo to the residents on 4B and Hugh being able to identify nearly all the songs (especially the Irish ones). To me he was a very kind, quiet, and gentle man. Although I did not see him in a lot of my programming, he was always friendly and called me by name (not everyone could do that). He took a genuine interest in getting to know people and I will never forget my conversation with the two of you my last day working at Parkwood. You were both so kind and wished me well in my future endeavours. I never like to say good-bye to those who have touched my life, as the impression they leave on me will never be forgotten. Although this is a very difficult time, I know your family is strong and you will support each other through this. Please accept my most sincere condolences.
Dear Kathryn,
I was away for the past three weeks and on returned last evening (Tuesday, Feb ruary 7th), saw the announcement of Hugh
I went to South Collegiate, London. Hugh, along with Hugh Gregory, came to South when I was in the final year. We became good friends. Hugh went to Western and majored in Geology. I went to Queens for engineering. After graduating from Western, Hugh switched to law at UofT. After army discharge, I came to Western for geology. I was unaware that Hugh had majored in geology until after I joined the geology faculty in 1953. Over the years we were ‘distant’ friends. Hugh was asked to do a small action when we purchased a house – I think it was registering the deed for the house. His charge was $20!!! He WAS a good friend!! We now know Hugh was a truly contributing citizen in the London area, far more than I was aware. I went to see him but once while he was at Parkwood – I should have made effort to visit a long time friend who made a considerable contribution in the London area. My condolences to his family.
I don’t know where to start. I am truly sorry that I never went with Dave to meet Mr. Kelly. Dave had the utmost respect for not only his dad but his mother too and now that I have met Mrs Kelly and the rest of Dave’s family I know why. You raised a wonderful son who left us much too soon and will be missed. I hope Dave and Mr Kelly are enjoying a game of skipbo together. My sincerest condolences to your whole family.
We wish to express our symphathy with the death of Hugh, and hereby our condolences. Losing two loved ones so close together, must be devastating. Anne and I pray that you recieve strength from your loved ones, and from those that surround you!
