ROY —- Passed on peacefully surrounded by his family at Chateau Gardens, London, on Thursday January 5th 2006, John Roy of London in his 79th year. Beloved husband of Margaret (Shields) Roy. Dear father of Mary Anne Greenbeck and her husband Russell, Susan Roy and her husband Jay Rankin, Jane Roy and her husband Glen Pearson, and Jennifer Bellmore and her husband Bill. Dear brother of Margaret MacDonald of Blackpool, England (and late husband Jimmy) and predeceased by his brother David Roy (and his wife Jeanne). Also loved by his grandchildren Jim, John, Jonah, Sam, Nicole, Abuk, Max and Madeline and his step-grandchildren Kathy, Kristy, Jordan and Kim. Greatly missed by his many nieces, nephews, family and friends. John graduated in Civil Engineering at St. Andrew’s University in Scotland, and worked for the Ontario Ministry of Transportation for over 30 years. Honorary Member of Stormont Lodge No. 1524 A.F. & A.M. Scone, Scotland (1961), and Past Warden of St. George’s Anglican Church, London. Friends will be received by the family from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. Sunday at the A. Millard George Funeral Home, 60 Ridout Street South, London (433-5184). The funeral service will be held at St. George’s Anglican Church, 227 Wharncliffe Road North, London, on Monday January 9th at 11 A.M. with Reverend Dr. Timothy G. Connor officiating. Interment in Woodland Cemetery, London, followed by a reception at St. George’s Church. The family would like to express special thanks to Rachael Landry and all the caring staff of Chateau Gardens, London. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations would be appreciated to the Choir Bursary Fund, St. George’s Anglican Church, 227 Wharncliffe Road North, London, ON N6G 2B6. I also worked for the Minstry and will always remember John as a great speaker and excellent story teller, especially when somebody was leaving or retiring. He could really get us going with his humour and anecdotes. I also remember Jane when she was a summer student in our Section. Hereby my condolences to the Family. He will be greatly missed.
