On behalf of Karen’s union brothers and sisters here at the Canada Border Service Agency and the Canada Revenue Agency we send our deepest regrets to her family and friends.
Karen provided leadership in our workplace by living the example. Her humour and positive approach to life
was enjoyed and admired by all who worked with Karen. Her courage demonstrated in the face of adversity humbled her peers.
It is with great sadness we say goodbye to our sister. And it is with even greater appreciation that we are thankful to have known her.
In sympathy, JoAnn, CEUDA 17, London

Dear John and Family:
Karen was such a special person…a wife who loved you very much, a mother who cherished her daughter, a doting and very proud grandmother and a friend to so many. I will miss her wonderful charm, delightful laugh, her wit and humour. There are no words to convey our sympathies during this difficult time. Derek and I are unable to attend the visitation as we are presently out of the country. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you. We are so deeply sorry for your loss.

John and family,
Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this difficult time. Karen was truly a great person. We will miss the chit chat with her on Kathy’s front porch. We will always remember how strong a person she was. If there is anything you need, you know where we live. Our door is always open…
God Bless,
Luci & Wayne and family.

Dearest Gail, I was extremely saddened when I heard the news. Karen was one of a kind and will be sadly missed. An angel who touched many lives and I was very honoured to have known her. I will always remember her kindess, friendship, support and comfort especially when Freda was first diagnosed with MS. Gail, Karen appeared in my dream last night. I saw her on a staircase with a presence that illuminated the room. I embraced her and said my good-bye.
May all your wonderful memories of Karen help you and your family during this difficult time. She will always be a part of you.
Love from Cia and family

John and family,
Tuesday, Oct. 11 – John, I only learned today of Karen’s passing. I’m so sorry I wasn’t able to visit and pay my respects. My sympathies are with you and your family. I worked with Karen at Revenue Canada and shared with her the diagnosis of Breast Cancer. Mine was in 2000. Our other friend, Jenny, was diagnosed last fall. And throughout Jenny’s treatment this past spring, we would often see Karen at the Cancer Clinic and enjoyed those times together. She shared her pride as a grandma with us. I will always remember her gutsy attitude and her wonderful sense of humor even in her darkest days. God be with all of you and give you comfort and strength in the coming days. Jenny, myself and a couple of other Revenue Canada friends are having dinner this coming Friday. We will raise a glass of wine for Karen and celebrate her life and our friendship.
