Two years ago when I was a first year medical student I was partnered with Gerry and Mary in a project designed to teach me how people cope with chronic illness. For several months this wonderful couple welcomed me into their home to share their experience of Gerry’s illness. While this was an excellent learning experience it was also so much fun, I won’t forget Gerry’s playful sense of humour (and his fondness for duelling TV robots..), the twinkle in his eye and his love of life.
My condolences to Mary and his family.

My sympathies to Mary, Tim ,Paul and families.
I had the pleasure of knowing Gerry at two different times in my life. The first time he was Mr. Dawkins, Tim’s dad.As a young boy,the thing I remember most about the Dawkins’ household is laughter. It was always a fun place to be around! Gerry took the time to talk to Tim’s friends.
The second time he was just Gerry. I delivered oxygen to the house for close to two years. The thing I remember most about that time is laughter! Considering what Gerry was going through it’s amazing how enthusiastic he was for life. He and Mary made me feel at home and I spent many coffee breaks talking and laughing in their kitchen. I’m certain his positive attitude helped him as he battled COPD.
God bless, Tim Huff
