William Blake…
You will not know me but I knew Gail from my days at Westminster High School but this William Blake prose brings her back to those days. Many a laugh our group had and it is those friendships from our years at high school that we all keep close to our hearts. It isn’t the length of time of knowing someone but the time shared at that moment which is important and cherished.
I remember her long strawberry blond hair, a smile so wide and a heart to match. Over the years I saw Gail at the hospital – days when my own mother was ill and didn’t have the opportunity to stop to say hi. She was always busy going here and there but seeing her face just reminded me of those days long ago and that was enough to make me smile.
When I read these words of William Blake I will always think of her.
Heartfelt thoughts,
Olivia Guinan

Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time. We know Gail, from working with her at South Street. She was a mentor to many and showed professionalism in all aspects of her work life. She always had a good word and a smile and lots of stories to tell! She will be missed.

I’ll miss you city girl from the country girl (GR)
It was always a pleasure working with Gail. She always brought joy and laughter to both patients and staff. Gail was adamant that pink bedspreads belonged on the female beds and blue on the male. The room had to match! She always had quick comebacks and jokes for all situations. We will miss her dearly. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. She will always be in our hearts and be a part of 2 medicine.
It was always a wonderful experience to work with Gail. Her humour would bring you through many sticky situations. You will be sadly missed by all.

Dear Ed,Mary and family,
Please accept my sincerest sympathy during this difficult time.
Gail and I worked together in the 80’s.She had a contagious passion for nursing, and life in general.
We had an advantage when most maintainence- related stuff needed attention, and we were very grateful. Thanks Ed.
She loved family and that was unquestionable.
A great nurse!
May the Lord comfort you now and always.
Clara
Gail was a breath of fresh air to say the least. She could always bring a smile to everyone’s face because hers was contagious. We would look forward to her stories because they’d have the whole room laughing. If you’re up there Gail, we miss you lots, and don’t worry, we’ll be sure to keep the bedspreads coordinated!
Your Country Bumpkin,
Andrea
Gail had a way about her that could brighten the gloomiest day. There are MANY interesting (and entertaining) stories that I could share with you about Gail but this isn’t the place. I will always remember my first day at 2 Medicine and how Gail was the first to make me feel welcome. That first impression stayed with me yet it only touched on how sincere and kind Gail was as a person.
I can not express how missed Gail will be and the number of lives she touched and enriched in her all to short stay with us.
With Deepest and Heartfelt Sympathy,
Kim Wilson and family
I’ve know Gail since 1989 when we worked together on neurology. She was one of the most caring nurses I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with. She made us laugh with her great sense humor, and always went the extra mile when it came to her patients, like including combing their hair on night rounds.
Gail was loved by everyone and will be missed.
To her family and friends, you will be in my thoughts and prayers and this very difficult time.
Kim Pucci
Gail was the light of medicine at South Street. She could brighten up any day and make the most out af any situation. Gail will be greatly missed. I will always remember the pink, blue and brown.

Gail and I were buddies in public school, high school, nrsg school and our paths still crossed at the hospital even tho we never worked on the same floor. Our nursing parties during school were notorious. All I ever heard about Gail at work was how hard she worked and how well she cared for her patients. She was a true buddy-you know the kind that you don’t see much of but was always there.I know I can say that on behalf of the class of 77 and more importantly from myself, your shoes will never be filled.I Love You Gail-keep the party going til I get there.

I’ve known Gail for several years, and worked with her for seven years. She is such a caring nurse and so full of life. She will be missed tremendously and she leaves her own legacy. (Pink bedspreads for girls and blue ones for the boys, and hair combed in the middle of the night.) Her laugh will always be remembered, and her smile.

Dear Nancy and Family:
Our thoughts are with you during this time of loss of Gail. We are here for you.
The Hamiltons
I have known Gail since she mentored me during my consolidation in 1979. She was the one who taught me what the nursing textbooks could not. She was warm, compassionate and had a unique style of her own. Her wonderful sense of fun, her compassion, and her generosity were just a few of her admirable qualities. The fact that she gave so much of herself, yet did not want the spotlight, speaks volumes of her character and integrity. She was part of an extended family-the one who should sit at the head of the table. I will truly miss her but never forget her. She was wonderful.

Gail and I have worked together for many years but she was not just a co-worker. She was like family to me and to many others. You could not help but smile when she entered a room and she usually had you laughing before she left. Her patients all loved her and she inspired all of us to go that extra mile. She will be greatly missed. My heartfelt condolences to her entire family.
Just to have worked with Gail was such a privilege. She was one of those great nurses you could always count on. Her friends /colleagues are much better off from just knowing her. We will miss her.

I was shocked to hear the news of Gail’s passing. I had the honour of working with her for many years. I first worked with her way back on Medicine when we worked together on 5 NorthWest. She was the Kindest nurse that I have ever had the priveledge to work with.
She was professional in every sense of the word. All of her patients always got the best care and then more. I extend my sincere sympathy to her dear family who she spoke so highly of.
God Bless You All at this difficult time.
Sincerely
Terri Farrington RN
Gail was the Sparkle at our work in every way. She will be greatly missed, but will remain a Sparkle in our hearts each and every day.
I had the distinct pleasure of not only graduating with Gail but also starting our nursing careers together on 5NW. Gail was truly one of the best nurses I have been fortunate enough to work with. She and I had many interesting work experiences and we would always find a way through them with professionalism and humour. Her laugh will stay with me forever.
Gail was so proud of her family and would talk so fondly of them. I know that she will be missed by so many people.
My thoughts and prayers are with the Johannes family. I am so grateful that I was able to meet your wonderful daughter/sister/aunt and to have had my life touched by her.
I am a physiotherapist and have had the great pleasure of working with Gail for several years. She was such a joy to work with and always brought a smile to our face. She was loved by everyone and will be missed by everyone. Gail was always willing to go the extra mile to give me a helping hand with her patients or a co-workers patient. I will definitely remember the co-ordinated bed spreads, but most of all what a wonderful person Gail was. She will remain in my heart forever.
I consider myself very lucky to have known and worked with Gail. She was loved and respected by everyone. You could always count on her for a kind word or laugh. We will miss her and always think of her fondly.
To the Johannes Family,
I was blessed to have known Gail. She had such a calm about her that will always be present with me. I will miss her laughter and all the good things she stood for. She was such a buffer to all of us and Gail, you have taught me so many good lessons that will help me in the days ahead.
Driving tips (including how to turn right on a red light), proper coloured bedspreads (and where to hide the blue ones), the importance of good hair care at 2 in the morning, professionalism, dedication, loyalty, caring, compassion, laughter – just a few of the many things I will remember about Gail.
I cannot express how much I miss her, but please remember that she lives on in everyone whose life she touched, and we will never forget her.
With deepest sympathy, Nicole Clayton RN
I remember the first day I met Gail she greated me with a smile in her bright pink uniform, she had a way of making everyone feel welcome. She was both a friend and a teacher. I have learned alot from her. In the short time I have known her she has left a definate impact in my heart. Gail will be missed by all and never forgotten.
Although we only knew Gail for couple of years we are greatly saddened and will miss her. We will miss her laughter and her smile that would light up a room. Gail was one of a kind and we are all better off to have known her. We wish to send our condolences to her family. She will be forever in our hearts and memories.

I was able to create a poem that describes Gail perfectly.
GAIL
Oh how we all deeply miss you,
everything we do or see brings you clearly into view.
It was all so sudden that day,
no one can believe you’ve gone away.
Even those who only knew you a short time,
listened to your teaching voice ring like a chime.
We have all learned just so much,
like how to give that caring touch.
Whenever you told your wonderful stories,
we all forgot about our own worries.
You always showed how much you cared,
and you gave extra comfort to those who were scared.
Many of us will think of you at different times,
especially if a bedspread is mismatched, such high crimes!!
There are few eyes that are dry,
as many of us can only cry.
You were a caring angel while down here,
and now you are our heavenly angel, oh so near.
You will always be in our heart,
even though we will be apart.
For you have shown many your true caring,
now your stories we must continue sharing.
Vikky
Gail will be deeply missed by everyone that was touched by her beautiful nature. She always had a positive thing to say about everyone. There is no one in this world like her. She was an angel and now she truly is an angel watching over us. Gail has enriched my life and I will never forget her.
Few in this world have a green thumb for people. They have a natural talent to make those around them flourish. Where ever they go, they create a safe environment where people can blossom in their individuality. Gail’s illuminating smile and flowing positivity nourished all she knew. Her caring way has touched us and will be with us as we grow.
May our lives, like the leaves of the maple grow,
more beautiful as they fade.
May we say our farewells,
when it is time to go.
All smiling and unafraid.
Love you Gail

I am sending this on behalf of my sister Rita Baker. Rita worked with Gail for many years, and this loss to 2 medicine is great to all who knew her. Gail was a compassionate, caring, didicated nurse. Gail knew the importance of being a team player, and took the part !
Rita spoke of her teaching ability and how she helped so many new grads and students on the floor. Gail was calm and patient with everyone. The patients loved her and were at ease to khow they had her as a nurse. Gail had three qualities that were true. She was true to her family, true to her friends, and true to her profession.
Gail has left her mark in this world. She will never be forgotten! Her shoes will never be filled by anyone again… because there is only one Gail. My sister was one of the lucky ones to know Gail so well. I wish I could have had the pleasure.
God bless you all, my thoughts are with you..
On behalf of Rita Baker …Angela Vinet R.N.
