Hello Mrs Tasker:
I regret not being able to attend the funeral services.
I would have liked to tell you in person how much I liked and respected Lawrence during the times I was associated with him at the TV station.
When we, in the news department needed something made or repaired or designed or manipulated , Lawrence would look at it .—.out there in his private domain at the workshop and the back door –. and then a few hours later a product would appear GÇôdome much more professionally that anyone could expect. ThatGÇÖs just one example.
I also enjoyed his company on the famous fishing trips . I think he enjoyed those as much as we all did.
I havenGÇÖt seen him more than once maybe twice since then. I think the last time was perhaps in Westmount Mall.. It is some time ago but I remember him saying that he did enjoy his life in Florida.
Getting older and being more susceptible to the diseases that prey on us, is no fun. I sincerely hope he didnGÇÖt suffer too long with his.
He used to pop in on us at our house with Walt Stasiak . At times we enjoyed the occasional beer on the patio. My wife remembers him well and his droll wit when conversing with Walt. She joins me in our condolences and offers sympathy to you and your family.
I have a memento of Lawrence that I will never part with. He made a fishing tackle box for me which is still a favoured possession. I donGÇÖt get to carry it much now —but I polish it every spring, sort the lures and anticipate using it again. It keeps my anticipations high. Lawrence even carved my initials on the lid . ItGÇÖs a fitting memorial to a recent nice guy.
