At Parkwood Hospital, London on Tuesday, February 18th, 2003 after a long courageous battle with cancer Reverend Dr. Malcolm Ford Harlow, BA.BD., D. Min of London in his 71st year. He is survived by his beloved wife Kathleen V. (Hutchinson), and loving daughters; Lisa Beringer and her husband Dale of Aylmer, Kathy Harlow, and Krista Ryan and her husband Chris of London. Fondly remembered and loved by his grandchildren Michael, Sara, Kyle, Jessica and Devin. Predeceased by his parents Millard Cole and Mildred Amy (Enman) Harlow and his sister Margaret Jean Elliott. Malcolm will be missed by a host of family and friends. Malcolm was born and raised in Halifax, Nova Scotia. He was a retired minister of the Convention of Baptist Churches of Canada, having served in Moncton, NB, Calgary, AB, Charlottetown, PEI, London, ON and Truro, NS. He received his Bachelor of Divinity from Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary (1955) and Doctor of Ministry from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary (1979). Malcolm was an avid sportsman and enjoyed spending his summers at his cottage in Hackett’s Cove, Nova Scotia. Friends will be received by the family from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Thursday at the A. Millard George Funeral Home, 60 Ridout Street South, London. A Memorial Service will be conducted at First Baptist Church, 568 Richmond Street, London on Friday, February 21st, 2003 at 1:00 p.m. with Reverend Sheldon W. Dyck officiating. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 123 St. George Street, London, ON N6A 3A1 or charity of your choice.     I knew him as Mac Harlow so many years ago, as
    director of Pinehurst Camp, which was sponsored
    by MREC at New Germany, N.S. I attended the camp
    for three years, 1952-54. In the first year, Rev.
    Whitney Dalrymple (of Bridgetown, my home town,
    and church) was director with Mac as his deputy.
    In the next two years, Mac was the director.Sadly,
    Whitney passed away a few years ago, after a most
    successful stint as a missionary in Angola and
    Zambia.

    I admired both these men from my childhood so
    strongly. In my teaching career, I am sure it is
    men like them I sought to emulate in my concern
    for the individuals in each classroom in which I
    taught. Mac, in particular, was a gentle, strong
    person, who exuded such kindness and charity. I am
    sure I still have a photo of him standing so
    casually in the door of a Pinehurst building, with
    that wonderful smile on his face.

    I extend my deepest feelings of sympathy to
    members of his family at this sad time. You
    will surely miss him, but his example and memory
    will be with you always.

    I was sorry to see the announcement of Malcom’s
    death in the paper. He was one of the people
    tht I tended to think would go on forever. I remem
    ber his ministry in Charlottetown with great
    warmth. I was president of the young peoples sgroup0 and he
    brought a great energy to our gathering. My mother was
    very fond of him also
    Lynn and I spent several weeks of the first year of our mariage
    in your cottage in the Peggs cove area.

    Joy and I were deeply saddened to read in today’s paper of the death of Dr. Malcolm Harlow. We are sure that there are no words that will ease your pain just now. The death of a companion, father, grandfather, and friend is always painful, especially one such as Malcolm, who will always be remembered as a devoted Christian family man, minister, and friend – one who brought so much joy.     It was a sad time when we read about Dr. Harlow in the our paper yesterday But I have no doubt that this morning he will be on his visit with many people that loved him.
    Eve and I always looked forward to his visit with us and we always remember the smile where ever you would meet him, and it our hope that we will see him in the future.

    We want to take this opportunity to express to you and your family our sincere sympathy in the passing of Malcolm, a dear friend and neighbour of ours during his youth while living on Poplar Street. Many of West End’s older members remember Malcolm and the Harlow family fondly. They were much appreciated for their leadership, Malcolm with the youth and his father as a Deacon and Church treasurer for many years.     Our Grandmother, Rose MacDonald ( nee Mann) was a sister of Viola Hutchinson ( nee Mann).

    Heather and I were saddened to read about Dr. Harlow’s passing. Dr. Harlow married Heather and I on August 25, 1990. Being a Catholic and Heather a baptist, Malcolm was gracious, helpful and supportive in overcoming any obstacle leading to our wedding. Malcolm lived a true Christian life; his assistance, his support and his example have had a lasting impact on our lives. The World is a little poorer with Malcolm’s passing but Malcolm’s teaching, inspiration and example of a life well lived will live on in every person he touched during his exemplary life.
