WEEKES….
It is with great sadness, we are announcing the peaceful passing of Len (George Leonard Ross) Weekes, at home, surrounded by his loving family, on Sunday January 25th, in Richmond Hill, at the age of 91. Len was born (1912) in London, ON; son of the late George M.P. Weekes and the late Elizabeth (Ross) Weekes. Beloved husband of the late Shirley (Lawrance) Weekes (2003). Len is and will be greatly missed by his two sons; Larry Weekes and his wife Yolande of London and Brian Weekes and his wife Jovina of Richmond Hill. Also loved by his two grandsons Michael and Stephen and his step-grandson Jason. Dear brother of Jack R. Weekes and his wife Irene; Alberta (Weekes) Kay and dear brother-in-law of Marion (Lawrance) Janes all of London. Len will also be missed by many nephews and nieces. Len was well known in the music circle of his native London and in Ottawa; having been the orchestra leader at the former Canadian Grill of the Chateau Laurier for a number of years. When Len retired from his Federal Government job, he kept on playing his music by forming a small group of his own; playing at former functions and benefits in Ottawa, and on most weekends at the Kiwanis Alex Dayton Senior Centre in Ottawa, until returning home to his beloved London where he soon got reaquainted with the local music world. Many fellow musicians in the London area will remember him fondly and will miss his companionship. Len was also known to volunteer his time at various hospitals, notably, starting on the first official day of retirement, at The Ottawa Civic Hospital and upon his return to London at University Hospital to name a few. Friends will be received by the family from 7 to 9p.m. Thursday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9p.m. Friday at the A. Millard George Funeral Home 60 Ridout Street South, London where the funeral service will be conducted in the chapel on Saturday January 31st, 2004 at 11:00a.m. with Pastor Lin Albrecht officiating. Interment in Woodland Cemetery, London. As an expresssion of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the McCormick Home Foundation, 230 Victoria Street, London ON N6A 2C2.

Dear Larry and Yolande:
My family and I were terribly sorry to hear of the passing of Uncle Len. Carol called yesterday and told me.
Uncle Len was a true gentleman and will be greatly missed. When I was still working in London, I was able to talk to him quite a bit and he always made me laugh, and always had great stories of the family.
With living in the U.S. now, it is not possible for me to get home at this time. I want you to know that our condolences, love, thoughts and wishes are with you and all the family at this time.
Sincerely
Judy Weekes-Walker and family
