We are very sorry to learn of Doris’s passing. Our family has known Doris since l957. She was our Uncle Jack Murray’s special friend for many years until his passing. Doris was a friend to somany people and a special friend also to our aunt Bea McDonald whom Doris spent so much time with keeping her company. We appreciate eveything Doris did for the family. We extend our deepest sympathy to all her family at this time.
Doris Burnett was a person who spent more time thinking of others than of herself. That, along with her enthusiasm and intelligence made her extra-special. She was so good at what she did that people placed complete confidence in her. Many times she returned to work for us and it wasn’t for the money – it was to help us out, and that she did. She made the complex look easy. She was always arriving from somewhere or going to visit somewhere else and people loved her company. She often spoke of her friends and her family whom she held dear although they were far away in England. Their visits here were very much looked forward to. When Doris was not saving us from accounting chaos she was driving ailing neighbours to doctors appointments or performing some other service for someone in need.
Her chosen charities were those that helped people in a ‘hands on’ way such as Boys and Girls Club, Mission Services, or Big Sisters. Therefore we’ll make a donation in her memory to Mission Services London in hopes that the good she did for others will carry on. We extend our heartfelt sympahty to you, her family. You will miss her loving, cheerful presence in your lives and we will miss her as well.
Paul and Mary Lynn Mansell
PS We would dearly love to be there today to honour Doris’ memory but have my brother’s wedding to attend this afternoon in Sarnia. We’ll be thinking of you.
My family and I have known Doris for 50 years, as the best friend of my aunt Eileen Gallienne. I will never forget how well Doris cared for Eileen when she succumbed to cancer several years ago. No-one ever had a better friend than Doris. I always looked forward to her good advice along with that ever-present sense of humour. I will miss her but will think of her often with great fondness. My sympathies to her family. Carole Langford
