Obituary
HOSKIN, Frederick Douglas …
It is with great sadness we share the loss of Doug, on Sunday, October 8th, 2023 at the age of 81, who has courageously battled every challenge life has thrown his way. He is greatly missed by his wife of 52 years, Alicia, and his daughter Carolyn. Predeceased by his parents Mary and Fred.
Doug was an avid lawn bowler, sports enthusiast, and had a wonderful singing voice. He shared many laughs with great friends all over this country, but especially with the Calvary Senior Choir and Billiards Buddies.
Doug’s sense of humour was something that drew people to him and throughout his lifetime, whether working at Greyhound or out on the greens you could guarantee that he was up to something.
As per his wishes, there will be no funeral or visitation. However, an event will likely occur during the next bowling season. Donations to Elmwood Lawn Bowling Club or Calvary United Church in his memory are appreciated.
Special thanks to our friends for their support during this time.
Arrangements entrusted to A. Millard George Funeral Home, 519-433-5184. Online condolences, memories and photographs shared at www.amgfh.com

Carolyn condolences in the loss of your father. You frequently expressed your love and admiration for your father over the years. I’m sure he will be missed. Sending thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
Carolyn and family, please accept my condolences on your loss. I remember your dad well from when you and I were roommates: he struck me as an incredibly friendly, generous, and welcoming man (and it was clear that you meant the world to him!). I know you will miss him dearly. My thoughts are with you and your mom during this difficult time.
(Apologies I didn’t reach out another way – I no longer have your contact info.)

Alicia and Carolyn,
So sorry to see that Doug has passed. He sure enjoyed his lawn bowling. He came up to Exeter for many tournaments over the years.
Take care of each other.
To Alicia and Carolyn. Please accept our heartfelt condolences. Your father was a wonderful neighbour with a quick smile and a witty sense of humour. We will miss seeing him regularly. Let us know if there’s anything we can do. Sending love.
My deepest condolences to you, Alicia, and Carolyn. He will be missed.
Dear Alicia
Sorry to read of your loss. You are remembered as a strong, empathic nurse. Pam from SCI Rehab
Alisha and Carolyn, my deepest sympathy on Doug’s passing. I will miss our elevator conversations
We were so sorry to hear of Doug’s passing. His laughter and humour on Baker Street will always be remembered, especially his teasing of us both on our way to school over the years. We pray that the Lord will strengthen you and lift you up as you grieve Doug’s passing.
Carolyn and Alicia – so sad to read of Doug’s passing. I remember fondly singing in the London Fanshawe Symphonic Chorus with him – he had a great voice and a wonderful sense of humour. I’m sure you will look at photos and smile each time you see them. It’s the way to keep his memory alive. Take care.
