I am the youngest daughter of Alice and Timothy Thomas, (deceased). Your mother gave me a Maggie Muggins doll when I was a little girl. I was nicknamed Maggie and it has stuck within my family and some close childhood friends. Your mother was a very kind, and confident woman. My heart goes out to you.
My first memories of Beryl, she was the sassy, bright teenaged cousin that used to come and visit us on the farm near Amherstburg, Ontario, in the summer months.
She was the one who built a career for herself as a court stenographer resulting in her being thought of as the bright light in the family.
She had a quick whit in her sense of humor. I remember her observation on life and relationships: “You don’t have an sense until you get married, then its too late.”
I have only good memories of Beryl. Rest in peace.
I love this picture of your Mom, Chris. It is how I will remember her.
My first memories of cousin Beryl are of her as a fun loving happy teenager visiting us on our farm near Amherstburg. She bought us scrapbooks and helped us cut out glossy pictures of the new cars of the year to paste in them. We thought this was fantastic. She also would dance to the music on the radio holding our infant sister who was thoroughly enjoying the experience. Your mom was an intelligent, hardworking, kind and generous person, a blessing to all who had the privilege of calling her family or friend. Although her last few years were difficult she lived her life fully as long as her health allowed. My deepest sympathy to you Chris, and your family.
