It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Maria “Mary” Jacoba Josephina in her 94th year. Beloved Wife of the late Johannes Richardus (2014). Much loved Mother of Elly (Rob), Mary (Martin), Jo-Ann (Al), John (Debbie), and Sylvia. Adored Oma of Lena (Jeff), David (Meghen), Joe (Mallory), Jon (Melissa), Christine (Evan), and Savanna (Rakesh). Precious Great Oma of Sophie, Ellie, Alivia, Emilee, Jakob, Lucas, and Nicholas. Predeceased by her parents Cornelis and Hendrika Maria, and brothers and sisters, Cornelia (Gerard), Cees (Nel), Wim (Jans), Harrie (Thea), Nelly (Harrie), Jan, and Jacoba. Fondly remembered by her many in-laws, nieces, nephews, and close friends.
Mary was born in Zeeland (N. Br.) Netherlands, where she married Joe (1954) and immigrated to London, Ontario, Canada (1960) with 3 children and welcomed 2 more children in London. Mary lived each and every day as a very proud and very loving Mom, Oma, and Great Oma. She also loved and cherished time spent with friends.
Thank you to the staff and residents for the wonderful years Mary had at Ashwood Manor. Mary’s family is very grateful for the loving support and care she received from staff in the ER, Medicine and Palliative Care Units at Victoria Hospital. A very special thank you to the Family, Nurses, Granddaughter Lena and Grandson Jon.
Mary will be deeply missed by all those who loved her.

My deepest condolences to the family. Although I never met Mrs Van Dongen, but I heard so wonderful story about how a great person she was. May the Lord rest her soul in heaven. May her loving memories live in your hearts for a lifetime. May God gives you all the strength and comfort in your hearts to pass through this tough time. Just remember that she is in much better place , no pain and no suffering.
My deepest sympathy and condolences to the VanDongen Family. May she fly with angels.
Our deepest sympathies to each and everyone of you. Little grandma was a sweet lady and will be missed. Lots of fond memories for all of you to cherish forever. Hugs
Our hearts were saddened to hear that your dear Mom and Oma has passed away. She will be missed.
She always had a smile on her face and was so happy to see us. We hope that she is having a great time in heaven and giving everyone huge hugs.
We wish you peace in the days ahead, she know she was very loved by all of you.
So sorry for your loss, John and family. You are in my thoughts at this sad time. Rest in peace.
My deepest condolences to the Van Dongen family especially Elly and Mary who I knew the best. Your mother was always so kind to me whenever I would come to visit. God bless your Mom and your family. (I have some of your Mom’s name – Josephina Maria, so I will always remember her!). I’m so sorry that I won’t be able to attend the funeral. Eternal rest grant unto her and may perpetual light shine upon her.
God welcomed home one of His beloved. Mary will be missed by Margaret at Ashwood Manor where they became close friends. Mary was a true saint and faithful servant of God.
