Al was a great member of the London Horticultural Society for many years. His love of gardening, especially roses, will be sadly missed. He was a kind man who was always willing to help anyone who asked him. He had a natural talent of being able to talk to anyone and immediately put them to ease. He will be greatly missed at the London Horticultural Society events. He may be gone but he’ll never be forgotten.
Mike and I remember Al, a kind neighbour…enjoying the playfulness of our children, Morgan & Maura when we lived at 14 Torrington.. He could name every rose and lily he planted.
Warm thoughts Freida & Mike Malone
Sending sincere condolences at this sad time. Al helped me learn to curl and his smile was very special.
A true gentleman.
Our deepest sympathy to the family
Al was a great horticulturist.
He loved his flowers and roses.
A very friendly man
As an avid gardener Al was a dedicated lifetime member of the
London Horticultural Society. He was always happy to share his gardening wisdom and love for flowers, especially roses.
Al will be fondly missed and remembered.
Our Society would like to express our sincere condolences to the family of the late Alan Whitfield. Alan participated in many functions with us and always exhibited his beautiful roses and cut flowers. We enjoyed his informative stories and history about his roses, some of us visited his gardens at the house in South London.
We remember him coming to the meetings with the late Sheila Schering. His smile and wit is a wonderful memory for us all.
Thinking of your family and praying for you during the difficult time.
Sincere Sympathy to the family with the passing of your dear father Alan.
We met your dad and mom at Highland Golf Club many years ago. We watched and played curling and golf with them.
Dad’s love of being out walking the golf course, working n his beautiful lower gardens and his curling expertise.
We will always remember the golfing windup and follow through, amazed at how accurate he was and wishing we had half the game he had.
Thank you Alan for being such a respectful and giving man.
