Obituary
Pozsonyi, Elly…
Elly passed away on May 21, 2023, surrounded by loved ones. Elly was a beloved wife to Dave Jankowski for 20 years; stepmother to Heather Jankowski and Emma Jankowski (Alberto) both of Toronto; and step grandmother to Eva and Rio. She will be greatly missed by extended family and friends.
Elly is predeceased by her sister, her mother, and her father, Mary and Peter Klarlund of Copenhagen, Denmark. She is also predeceased by her previous husband Richard Pozsonyi. Elly will also be missed by her dear friend Terri Deevey. Terri has been a best friend, business partner, confidant, and daughter to Elly.
Elly loved to travel and moved to South Africa from Denmark at the age of 20 where she lived for ten years. She traveled extensively and moved to Canada in her 30s. Her interests included stained glass work and painting. She enjoyed listening to the Blues and gardening. But it was her love for animals that presided over all else.
Cremation has taken place. A Gathering of Remembrance will take place at the A. Millard George Funeral Home, 60 Ridout Street South, London on Monday, May 29, 2023 from 12-2:30 pm. A reception will follow.
As an expression of sympathy, donations in memory of Elly may be made to the Humane Society London & Middlesex, 624 Clarke Rd, London, ON N5V 3K5, or the Canadian Cancer Society 55 St Clair Avenue West, Suite 500 Toronto, Ontario M4V 2Y7. Elly made me feel like her home was mine also. You are and will be dearly missed everyday.
Dave Kankula, friend of the family
I spent some really nice time with Elly over the years. She didn’t have children and spoiled the heck out of me. She and Dave came to my wedding and had a good time. I have a special place for her in my heart. She was a kind and generous person, and she knew how to make people laugh and feel comfortable. My deepest condolences to family and friends who will miss her smile. I won’t forget her! xo
