Obituary
MOFFAT, Tom…..
It is with great sadness that we share the news that Tom Moffat, in his 80th year, passed away in the wee hours of Saturday, October 7, 2023. They tell us that Tom passed away quickly and peacefully. He had only been in hospital for 24 hours.
Tom had many serious health issues, throughout his life, so we are grateful that when his time came, he did not have to endure a lengthy illness.
If Tom were here to talk to us now, he would tell us that it was his time — that God was calling him home.
Tom was always a sweet and gentle guy who lived his life with great grace and we are all thankful to have been part of that life.
Tom is survived by his wife and partner of 52 years, Peggy Moffat, his son, Douglas Moffat (Meredith Carruthers), his daughter, Jennifer Monague and his sister, Susan Pinkerton (Chuck). Tom was the much loved Papa/Grandpa of Jacob Thompson, Violet Carruthers-Moffat, Emma Monague and Tobi Monague. Tom is pre-deceased by his parents, Doug and Violet Moffat, his sister, Judy Micks and his Mother-in-law, Donna Pollard.
We offer special thanks to the following people who have honoured Tom by taking on the role of pallbearers: Amy Froggett, Tammy Baker, Christine Sharpe, Matt Sharpe, Michael Pollard, and Wes Monague.
We cannot thank the staff of Elmwood Place Longterm Care, enough, for their caring and compassionate care of Tom for the past 2 years.
Family and friends are welcome for visitation on Wednesday, October 11, 2023 from 11:00 am – 12 Noon at the A. Millard George Funeral Home, 60 Ridout Street South, London. A funeral service will be held in the chapel at 12 Noon. Cremation to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Habitat for Humanity (London) or Indwell (London) or a charity of your choice. So sorry to hear of Tom’s passing. He is free now. What a beautiful man he is. I feel so lucky to call him my friend.
Sad that Tom didn’t want us to know that it was time yo be called Home.He always appreciated the care we offered even on challenging days. He always had a positive attitude of the situations around him. He was always ready to listen to my wild encounters with the Holy Spirit
If there is any thing I received from Tom, it is motto that ” Happy Wife, Happy Life”.
Tom , I still go into Room 233 hoping to catch a glimpse of you.May be I am living in denial.
May you rest in peace and I decree and declare that we shall meet again in that Heavenly Home where you now dwell.
I pray for strength for Peggy, Susan, the entire family and all people who were touched by Tom’s life.

We are thinking of you Peggy and thank you for giving Tom a good life.
I asked Tom one day when he was at Elmwood how he was doing. He said he was ok as long as he knew his sweety was coming to see him. That is the kind of love they shared.
