Obituary
HOGG —- Courageously at her residence in London on Thursday October 2nd 2003, M. Joan (Bromley) Hogg in her 73rd year. Cherished mother of Shirley Riggs and her husband Brian, Eva Douglas, Peter Hogg, Barbara Jennings and her husband Peter all of London; and predeceased by her daughter Linda Hogg. Dear sister of Art Bromley and his wife Linda, and Keith Bromley and his wife Hazel, and predeceased by her sister Marion Lockwood. Dearly loved by her 4 grandchildren; Jessica Riggs, Alex Douglas, and David and Ben Jennings. Joan was born on September 28, 1931 on a farm near the village of Westmeath, Ontario. Joan graduated from the Lorraine School of Nursing in Pembroke, Ontario in 1952 and worked in several of the communities she lived in but became a stay-at-home mother as her family got larger. She returned to nursing at Extendicare Nursing Home here in London and worked there until her retirement in 1990. Joan has travelled to many parts of the world and has visited parks all over Canada in order to hike, camp and watch wildlife. Genealogy was another of her interests and she compiled extensive family records. Joan also had a passion for books, having collected and read hundreds over the years. She was very devoted to her grandchildren and was always happy to babysit at a moment’s notice. The complete funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the A. Millard George Funeral Home, 60 Ridout Street South, London, on Saturday October 4th at 1 P.M. with Reverend Philip Newman of Riverside United Church officiating. Cremation to follow. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations to the Friends of Algonquin Park, Box 248, Whitney ON KOJ 2M0, would be appreciated by the family. On line condolences accepted at www.amgeorgefh.on.ca
