MOLL ….. Gilbert Bertrum in his 56th year peacefully at home in London on November 10th, 2003. After a brief but courageous battle with cancer. Beloved husband and best friend of Maureen (Ashworth) Moll, devoted father of Odessa Kerry Louise Moll and Alexis Lee Ashworth Moll, both of London. Loving son of Harriett Jane (Lee) Moll and the late George Edward Moll (2003). Brother of Richard Lee Moll (Evelyn) of Hamilton and Mary Jane MacKenzie (Jon) of London. Nephew of Major Wm. E. Lee and Mary Lee of Victoria, B.C. Brother-in-law of Stephen (Sherri) Ashworth of Edmonton and Kevin (Marilyn) Ashworth of London. Uncle of Amanda (Santiago) Ramirez, Kathleen, Drew and Eoghan, Spencer, Kurtis, Caroline, Jordan and Dylan. Son-in-law of Douglas Ashworth (Pauline, 2000) of London. Great uncle of Lena Ramirez of Sarnia as well as numerous cousins. Member of the 1st Hussars militia regiment, a fine arts graduate of H. B. Beal Secondary School and Fanshawe College. President of Maison Moll Inc., master print studio and workshop. An accomplished visual artist and master printer who will be sadly missed by his numerous friends and patrons in the art community. He was a tireless volunteer for many years on the Robin’s Hill Cemetery Board, Thorndale as well as the Piccadilly Neighbourhood Association. He was an avid reader, history buff, amateur archaelogist, music lover, theater lover, antique lover, house restorer, gardener, voracious dreamer, and wonderful (Irish) storeyteller. Always a kind word, a helping hand to a neighbour, compassionate, selfless, painstakingly meticulous and ever-generous with his time. He lived his life to the fullest on a daily basis and always stopped to smell the roses”. Friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. Wednesday at the A. Millard George Funeral Home”

Dear Maureen,
We have only now heard your sad news. Though we have lost contact with you over these many years, we have often thought about you. Please be brave during this difficult time. Gil was a fine artist who will be remembered for his work for years to come.
Take care, Susanne and Brian
Sorry to hear of Gil’s passing………I enjoyed knowing him. Don Bonham
Our thoughts & Prays are with your all at this sad time. Some say time heals, I say that with memories and time you learn to live and remember the beautiful times.
Dear Maureen and Alexis,
I was shocked and deeply saddened to hear that Gil had passed away. What a terrible loss for both of you, and for his community. I wish we had known him better, but at least we have a small piece of his wonderful art to remind us of his genius. Alexis, I know Mike will be very upset to hear this news and will soon be in touch. Lots of love. Pat.
I would like to send a message of sympathy to the the family and especially to Major William E. Lee and Mary Lee of Victoria, B.C.
I can’t tell you how sorry I am about your loss. He was a wonderful human being and will be missed by many. If there’s ever anything I can do to help don’t hesitate to contact me.
Mike
I’m so sorry about what happened to Gilbert, it was shocking to everyone when we heard the news. I wish the best for your family and if there’s anything at all that I can do, please let me know. Alexis, all your friends will always be behind you one hundred percent and just know that we’re thinking about you.
I went to H.B Beal,Art and Fanshawe,Gill was a great person and very talented, my thoughts are with his family
Gil’s work decorated the walls of my childhood and inspired me to follow all my artistic inclinations over the years. Three works in particular will always be with me; the two loons that watched us with disbelief at Paul’s house, a kite that became a real life parrot in our living room, and the flying man at the Mackenzie’s.
My thoughts are with Gil’s family and the Mackenzie’s
Our best wishes and sympathy.
Dear Maureen,
We were so shocked and saddened to learn of Gil’s death. While we crossed paths a few times as camper-parents at Huron Church Camp, it is in those turbulent teen/young adult years where Gil lives in my memory. For Don, it is the early years at Fanshawe College. In memory, Gil is forever young. May the love of family and friends bring you comfort at this difficult time.
Sincerely,
Jan (Endall) Pennycook and Don Dunsmore

Dear Odessa, Maureen, and Alexis,
As I prepare to come today to burry Gilbert, I want to take a momement to share my deepest sympathy with you. I knew him most through his strong presence and influence in Odessa. I feel as though Gilbert was just as much a part of our great adventure across Europe as Odessa herself. His great attention to detail, love of history, art and story all shine through in Odessa, and I know his legacy will live on through her.
Odessa, you have been a wonderful friend through out the years, and I share in your loss. Call me whenever you need!!
Love always,
Leah Getchell
Maureen: We send to you and your children our deepest sympathies. We were shocked and saddened to learn that a friend that we have known for so many years was taken so quickly from our midst.

To the Moll Family,
I just want to tell you how very sorry I am. I went to High School with Gill and he was so remarkable back then. I haven’t seen him in years as I live in Florida. I was a few years behind him at Beal, but I’ll never forget how he always took the young artists and helped them in any way that he could. I’ll never forget his laugh……God just got an incredible Angel! Lori
