In 1967 I was hired by Gray Knapp to finish a year at NMDHS as a replacement for a teacher who had become ill. I remember him as a principal who encouraged and supported me in every situation. I shall always appreciate those months when I was able to learn what a fine man Gray was. My sincere condolences in your loss of a Husband, Father and Friend.
I am a former student of Mr. Knapp’s at Hanover District High School in the early 60s. He was such a kind teacher and administrator with always a friendly smile and quiet word for me,a shy, new student to the town. Later, I became a teacher and tried to emulate his manner towards others. We moved to Seaforth and subscribed to the London Free Press and every now and again would see his name mentionned. I hope knowing his impact on others even years later will help lessen your feeling of loss. Sincerely, Kathy Pletsch
Gray was the principal at Lord Dorchester when I was hired as a teacher in 1975. He was a caring and compassionate principal, whose door was always open. I fondly remember his tradition of playing the piano in the gym in the morning prior to Christmas, as the teachers and students sang Christmas carols. And who could ever forget the corn roasts in September at Skee Hi, when we would gather around Gray playing the piano and sing songs? My sincere condolences to you, Ruth, and your family in your time of sorrow. God Bless.
