Obituary
PETRIE: Jack Melville (1914-2006)
Suddenly and peacefully at home in his 92nd year. Jack Petrie, beloved husband of Phyllis (nee Clipperton) for 54 years, and devoted, cherished father of Debra and son-in-law Lee (Males), Kent and friend Tammie, and Leah and son-in-law Peter; grandchildren Graham, Erica, Ashley, Jordan and Shawn. Predeceased by daughter Donna (1961) and son Alan (1999), brothers Lorne, Bill, Glen, Ken, Bud, and sister Lenore. Survived by sister Olive and Steven Manley, sisters-in-law Hazel Petrie and Jean Petrie and a large extended family.
To know Jack was to immediately like him. He always greeted you with a smile, a mischievous twinkle in his eye and a little chuckle as if to say I’ve been waiting for you to arrive

A measure of anyone in life is how that person impacted others along the way. To those of us who knew Jack, his impact was one of humour, caring, devotion and a great love of life itself. His gift to all of us, family and friends alike therefore, was positive, joyful and appreciative of those he encountered along life’s road. Jack’s passing leaves us all a little poorer but with grateful memories of having met and enjoyed such a unique person in our own life’s journey. Our family extends our sympathy to all his immediate family and numerous friends in his passing.
Phyllis, Deb and family, Kent and family, and Leah and family. We were so sorry to hear about Jack…..Dennis got a call last night, we have many happy memories too of Jack and wanted to send our condolences. Our thoughts are with you at this time. Love, Barb and Dennis.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Aunt Phyllis you are an amazing woman; a big hug goes out to you! I will be in touch soon and know that we are thinking of you at this difficult time. You are in our hearts. Our memories are very fond of Uncle Jack. Love Karen and Gord
My thoughts are with each of you today. As I am working from 1 to 5, I won’t be able to attend the visitation but I’ll be there in spirit. I had to smile when I read about the mischievous twinkle in Jack’s eye as I remember it well. Memories of dad and Jack playing their fiddles are some of my fondest. It was wonderful to have seen Jack at Aunt Marg’s Boxing Day get together a year ago, along with Phyllis, Leah and Peter. Strength and love to all of you. Diane Bester
Judy and Bernie Portis wish to send their sympathy to the family of Jack Petrie. We treasure our friendship with Jack and Phyllis and their family. Jack’s memory will do much to sustain us all.
Warmest regards,
Judy and Bernie
It was with shock and dismay that we read the Sunday obituaries this morning to learn of the death of my friend and sister-in-law’s father. I have never heard anything but good things about Jack and that speaks volumes to the person he was. The obituary was beautifully written. We are so sorry we could not attend to pay our respects to both Jack and his family.
Sincerest Condolences, Belinda, Fulvio and family
Dear Debbie,
Our family was very sorry to hear that your father passed away. Please give our condolences to Lee, Graham and the rest of your family.
Love, Diane and Family
