I was so sorry to read about Dick’s death. He was a wonderful friend to my mother (Ann Underhill) and many other Birk’s employees. He will be missed. I wish I had stayed in touch after my mother died.

Mr. Todd was always a welcome surprise visitor when in Oakridge at Patti’s parents, Tom & Jean Orr. He constantly was interested in Patti’s activities and very much in the growth and development of her family.
Mr. Todd will be very much missed.

I would like to express my sincere condolences on the passing of Dick Todd.
I knew Dick when I was in highschool during the early 1960’s, working for him – summers and part-time during the school year, in the Birks shipping and receiving Dept. I left for college after 5 years but during later visits home I would often drop by to say hello to both Grace Garten and Dick. I was impressed by the vast group of friends and colleauges who knew and respected his incredible knowledge and experience, not to mention his sunny disposition.
I telephoned Dick two weeks ago and he indicated his ill health was limiting – echoing a senior’s sentiment that growing old was no fun. (I had just been updated by the manager at Birks so I wanted to keep the call brief). However, it was a wonderful conversation that I will cherish.
He immediately remembered me and mentioned that he was being checked-in on,daily, by Don Simpson (who I had worked with at Briks). Dick laughed when he said you could always set your watch by Don’s punctuality on his morning and evening visits. This made me feel wonderful as they both had always been such good friends. This will be a great loss for Don and my thoughts and prayers are for him at this time.
I was very fortunate to have had such an honourable man as Dick Todd as my first mentor in the working world. His good example shown through hard work and high standards, in all areas of his life will, be my legacy.
Dick was a treasure and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Again, please accept my condolences.
