CROKE:
Frederick Maurice Croke, of London, in his 70th year, passed away at Parkwood Hospital, Saturday, June 9, 2007. Fred was blessed with a family who held him in love and esteem. Fred is deeply missed by his wife, Joy (Curtis) Croke, his daughter Sara Croke and husband Robert Bell of Dundas, his daughter Jennifer Jayapalan and husband Sachin of Toronto, his son John Croke and wife Kate of Milton, and his sister, Carolyn Croke of London. Fred was the grandfather of Jack and Olwyn Bell, and Ella Croke, who will always carry with them the memory of his quiet affection and love. Fred was the beloved son of the late John Croke (1968) and Mary Moore Croke (1997). Fred’s passing is also felt by the Curtis family, who enjoyed his friendship for over 40 years. A resident of London, Fred’s work in road construction gave him a thorough knowledge of this city and the surrounding region. He is perhaps best remembered though, for his love of the cottage on Lake Huron, where he enjoyed a life-long relationship with the lake. Our family would like to thank Dr. R. Dunkerley, the CCAC, St. Elizabeth Health Care, and the staff at the palliative ward of Parkwood Hospital for the gentle attention and consideration which Fred received, as well as our friends and neighbours for their warm thoughtfulness during his illness. The family will receive friends from 2pm to 3pm on Wednesday, June 13, at the A. Millard George Funeral Home, 60 Ridout Street South, London, where the Memorial Service will be conducted in the chapel commencing at 3pm. Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 123 St. George Street, London, Ontario N6A 9Z9 or Great Lakes United Conservation Organization, 3388 Rue Adam, Montreal, Quebec, H1W 1Y1. Dearest Joy, Carolyn, Sara (and family, Jen (and family), and John (and family):
We extend to you our deepest sympathies!
Fred has been such a constant in our lives. He was a great role model to others. A kind and caring soul. We’ll always remember him sitting outside at the cottage, with a weather eye to the sky, watching the surf pound in on the beach — even when it really wasn’t nice enough to be sitting outside! His memory will always cast a warm glow over our family and evoke a fond smile on to our faces.
With all our love to you at this difficult time,
R, MA, M, and G

John and Family,
I was very sorry to hear of the loss of your father. My family sends you our heartfelt condolences during this difficult time. My dad also passed away of cancer in April, and we feel his loss each and every day. I hope that you find comfort in family and friends and the precious memories you have to help keep your father’s spirit alive.

Dear Joy, I am so sorry for your recent loss of your dear husband Fred. Bob and I had seen you at the A&P not long before and learned of the details of his illness. I have just lost my Bob on Sunday June 24th and his funeral was yesterday at St. James. You knew how his illness was progressing when we met that day. I know that your three children and the dear grandchildren have been helping you get through this time of sadness, just as I have been so supported by my children and baby granddaughter. Perhaps we could meet for a chat over tea and talk when you feel ready.
My sincerest condolences
Jeanette
