Joanne was a great friend of my mother and our family, and a great person. There is no doubt that we will miss her visits on Christmas eve, her contagious laughter and unforgettable personality. The effect her death has had on us is a testiment to the life that she lived. My best wishes and blessings are with her family at this time, and I hope that we can all live on with a little Joanne in us.
You have been loved & you will be missed greatly.
My condolence goes to her siblings and their families, especially her brother. Joanne will be greatly missed for Harvey.
My heartfelt sympathy goes to the family and friends.
Joanne has left of part of herself with all of us and I am proud to call her my friend.
Cherish her memory.
I had the pleasure of working with Joanne at Robarts School for the past 17 years. She has shared her joy and enthusiasm for life with everyone she has touched.
My condolences to her family and friends.
Joanne Wilding
I have not seen Joanne for many years. She worked at Robarts School when my brother attended there….Carl Tilford. I know him and his wife Darcey valued and respected Joanne. So sorry to hear of her passing.

Hi Rick:
I knew Joanne was ill but never dreamed it was that serious. I just sent her a card yesterday. I always enjoyed her at our dinners on Tuesday for the Retirees. She will certainly be missed.
I thought you and Joanne were the only two siblings, but I see you have a fair sized family. It is wonderful as you can all support each other. The only drawback is when you lose a loved one.
Please express my sympathy to all your family.
Sincerely,
Vi Clayton
Sending my condolences

My heartfelt sympathy for your family at Joanne’s passing. I attended South Secondary School with Joanne and Rick and remember Joanne as having a great sense of humour and being a good friend. That was many years ago, but her memory remains. How strange I read this in the paper, as I just emailed her through classmates.com, not knowing she was ill. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
Sincerely,
Mary Anne Taylor (Wainright)

Joanne was such an amazing, vibrant person. She was good friend of my family’s, in particular my mother, Colleen Manning. I know that her passing has left an empty space in all of our hearts. We can take comfort in knowing that she always lived her life to the fullest and should take a cue and do the same. My thoughts are with her family- my deepest sympathy.

Rick and family
Bill and I would like you to know we are thinking of you and your family now and in the days ahead as you again suffer a loss in your family. Joanne will be missed by all the deaf children that she taught so many life skills to at the Robarts School. She gave so much of her life to these kids, and was always so interested in them even after they left school and went out into the world. It was like they were all her children. It seemed Joanne and I always met up while shopping at White Oaks Mall and we would stand and talk about where all the kids were and what they were doing. She seemed to be the only person from the old group at Robarts that I saw that knew where the kids all where. She was also very proud of her nieces and nephews and talked a lot about them as well. There will be a great gap in a lot of peoples lives without her. She will be missed.

Hello, I am sorry about Joanne Abel passed away. I just found out last night from my friend email me. I will never forget her best ball hockey coach in 1989 that Robarts Seniors Girls only won the championships. She always give her delight moods to students. I will think of your brother, Rick and give my condolences to your family.
My deep condolence to the Abel family. I remember her from Robart’s 1974-80. She’s a great person and students enjoyed having her around. She will be missed by all, she touched so many of our lives. Our thoughts are with you.
I was very saddened to hear about Joanne. I always enjoyed working with her when I was at Robarts School. I’ll always remember that she supply taught in my class for 2 weeks while I was on my honeymoon. She was a blessing because for 2 weeks I didn’t need to worry about my students because they were with her. She was always ready to be there for us, and more importantly for the kids. She was a fantastic woman with such a great personality and outlook on life. How lucky we are to have such great memories of her!
To the Abel Family and her friends,
I am passing my condolences to every member of the family, not just her immediate family but to everyone else too. One of Joanne’s greatest aspirations in her life was working and being around kids in, out or around the Robarts School. She gave all of her might, heart, love and spirit to each and everyone that she worked with, hung out with and associated with. We will never forget you, Joanne Patricia Abel!
Dear Rick and family:
Joanne was always energetic, enthusiastic and hard working in everything she did. She thoroughly enjoyed the children she worked with and cared deeply for them. Her sense of humour and mischief brightend up many events.
