Obituary
TOAL, Jacqueline…
Quietly on October 27, 2022, Jackie Toal passed away at Mount Hope, London in her 79th year. Beloved wife of the late Denis Toal. Dear mother of Sarah Toal and her husband Claude Baril and step-mother of Patricia Toal and her husband the late Bob Bondy, Barbara Lee and her husband Mike and Sandra Toal and her husband Mario Langevin. She was a proud grandmother to Matthew, Erin, Michelle, David, Daniel, Patrick and Charlotte and will be missed by her great grandchildren Sloane and Elsie.
Jackie was born in Bishop’s Stortford, England in 1943. She grew up in London, England where she graduated from teacher’s college and taught for many years. Her friends from these years say “she was such a vibrant and positive person, who dressed trendy and had an outgoing personality. She really was a ’60s person in swinging London and she was an excellent teacher.”
Jackie met her husband Denis in Cyprus and settled in Canada. They had a shared passion for harness racing and could be often found at the racetrack, stables or simulcasting horse races at home. Jackie was also a passionate oil painter and calligrapher and taught these arts at Fanshawe college.
Jackie suffered from multiple sclerosis for many years, and has resided at Mount Hope Centre for Long Term Care for the past 15 years. The family would like to extend their deep appreciation and gratitude to all of the personal support workers, nurses, and physicians that took such good care of her and would also like to thank all supporting staff and volunteers that managed to bring some brightness to her days.
Cremation has taken place. A graveside service will take place at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, London on Monday, October 31, 2022 at 9:30 am (please meet at the cemetery office for 9:15 am). In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Jackie’s honour to the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada, 500-250 Dundas Street West, Toronto, ON M5T 2Z5. Arrangements entrusted with A. Millard George Funeral Home, 519-433-5184. Online condolences, memories and photographs shared at www.amgfh.com
