Obituary
WELKER, Diana…
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Diana Lynne (nee Edwards) Welker, of London, on Thursday, October 6, 2022 at the age of 75, at home with her family by her side. Beloved wife of Helmut for 52 years. Loving mom of Marianne (Paul) Kippax, Chris (Lori) Welker, and Kevin (Julie) Welker. Proud grandma of Ashley (Henry Firmston) and Tyler Kippax, and Kaitlyn, Mai, Kate and Maggie Welker. Dear sister of Bob (Toni) Edwards, and sister-in-law of Ernestine, Ted, Martin and Barb. Predeceased by her parents Jeffrey (2010) and Mary (1992) Edwards, and her sisters and brothers-in-law, Luise, Annemarie, Roland and Joe.
Diana was a one of a kind woman who left a mark on everyone she interacted with and who made you feel special when you were in her presence. Nothing made her more proud than spending time supporting her kids and grandkids during their activities. She loved volunteering at Westmount Public School and swimming with her friends at the London Aquatic Centre. The family wishes to thank Dr. Hamilton, Home & Community Care, VON and St. Vincent’s for their exceptional care and compassion.
Family and friends are welcome for visitation on Thursday, October 13, 2022 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the A. Millard George Funeral Home, 60 Ridout Street South, London. The funeral service will be held on Friday, October 14, 2022 at 11 am in the funeral home chapel. Private interment in Woodland Cemetery, London. Donations in memory of Diana may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 500-55 St. Clair Avenue West, Toronto, ON M4V 2Y7. Online condolences, memories and photographs shared at www.amgfh.com

Helmet, Marianne and families…I am just heartbroken to hear of Diana’s passing. She truly was a one of kind person who had a heart of gold. The world lost a great wife, mother, gramma, sister, friend. May God comfort you all with all the blessed years and memories with Diana.
I am a nephew and she was my aunt. I miss her very much. She was great to chat with, email, text or in person, always pleasant and on the bright side of life. A truly happy person and always had a kind word or cheer to brighten a day. Considerate and caring.
I am very sad for her family and friends who will all miss her now.
I love you all and offer what I can at any time.
We were so sad to learn that Diana had passed away. We were friends with Diana’s parents through the CGA Windsor group and remember meeting Diana several times. There is comfort in thinking she has been reunited with Jeff and Mary. Holding you close in thought during this difficult time.
Aunt Diana has been my touchstone, my friend, my supplier of fabulous book titles. Our relationship has been a light for me for years, and even now with her loss so fresh, all I can think of is emailing her to chat about my breaking heart.
I am so sorry for your loss!
My thoughts and prayers are with the family.
Dear Helmut and Family,
I am deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Diana. She was such a very kind and gentle soul, a truly special person.
My thoughts and prayers are with
you during this very difficult time.
Aunt Diana was one of the most loving and kind people I have ever known. Her deep love for her family shone through in every interaction…nothing made her happier than sharing stories about her children and grandchildren. Her smile and enthusiasm were infectious. She kept us, her extended family, bound together with her organization and care. Her loss will run deeply throughout our family. I hope you, Uncle Helmut, Marianne, Chris, Kevin, and the rest of your families who loved her best, can feel our love from afar and know how very sorry we are that you are missing her so. We love you.
Marianne & Paul, You and your family are in our thoughts and prayers.
Sending our love at this time.
Joyce & Gordon
Please accept our sincere condolences to you and the family
I could not afford to lose another sister. Diana offered me that honorary title after I lost both my sisters, Luise and Annemarie, years ago and way too early. Diana and my brother Helmut, whom she adored, gave me the gift of their presence at my house in Ridgefield, Washington just a few months ago when she was as vital and as beautiful as always. I cannot imagine the weight of the loss her immediate family has to carry and am so terribly sad for all of us.
Our sincere condolences to family and friends.
Thinking of you in this very difficult time.
Dear Helmut and Family,
We were very sad to hear of the passing of beloved Diana, who touched the lives and hearts of so many. May your good memories outweigh your sadness. May God give you the peace and comfort that passes understanding.
Sincere condolences
Kevin and Family,
My deepest sympathies on the loss of your dear mother. I hope you will be able to draw strength and comfort from your extended family and friends to help you in this difficult time.
May her memory be eternal.
Dear Marianne, Paul, Ashley and Tyler,
Your mom/mother- in-law/ grandma was such a kind and loving person. We have so many fond memories of Diana attending field trips, working pizza lunches and attending every school activity that Ashley and Tyler participated in. She was always so friendly and quick with a smile for everyone she met. Diana was a special lady and we are so blessed to have known her.
With our heartfelt sympathy to you all,
The Fellner Family

Our sincere condolences to Marianne and family on the passing of your Mom. Diana was always willing to help with anything at dance-always with a smile!
I am so very sorry for your loss. I knew Diana when I was teaching at Westmount as a very caring, supportive and loving parent. Later she returned as a volunteer and would listen to children read from my class and other classes. She mentioned how very proud she was of her family when we chatted. She will be missed. Sincere condolences.
My deepest condolences to you and your family Helmut. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.
Dear Helmut, Marianne, Paul, Ashley and family who I knew through Diana’s eyes.
I have so many amazing memories that go back to the early years of our friendship to very recently. Things she did that included my whole family.
Diana and I met as members of Faith Lutheran and the God’s Kids Group that met for coffee time, a devotional and many laughs, also a few tears. This Group met for many years but we’ve remained close for 30 years.
I’ll never forget Diana gifting me a cheque on one occasion to help cover expenses and secure a spot for Geordie Jr to travel with a group of Youth to the East Coast saying, “This is something that Helmut and I would like to do”.
I remember her bringing us steak one Saturday night. She had thawed it for supper when something came up and her and Helmut, “would not be needing it”.
Then there was Wii Fit. It wasn’t Diana’s responsibility when Geordie and I left Christmas shopping until almost too late and couldn’t find key items on the Gauld Kid’s List.
I remember her calling to say, “Paul had worked his magic and the Kids will not be disappointed”.
These gestures came easily to Diana who genuinely cared not just about her friends but our families too.
I called Diana as the pandemic started and within a week she delivered nursing caps for Mairi.
Her talents were huge but her heart was bigger. She always came through or figured out a way to help.
Working with her on projects was seamless and fun. I will miss her so much and I’ll always remember her laugh.
Diana, you were an incredible friend.
I pray for your family’s strength in the day’s ahead.
Love, Nancy
