Obituary
PANABAKER, Dorothy Elaine (nee McCue)…
On Friday, August 19, 2022, Mom was reunited with Dad, Robert “Bob” Panabaker (1995). Born in Preston Cambridge in 1936, sister to Colleen (Len) Rose of Kitchener, George (Gail) McCue, the late Peg (the late Joe) McGrath, and the late Bill (the late Marj) McCue, all of Cambridge. Sister-in-law of John (the late Janet) Panabaker of Waterloo.
Dorothy worked with Bob at the Commerce Bank in the late 50’s. Marriage and family soon followed with children Paul (Cynthia O’Neill), Tom (Karen) and Karen Hilker (Geoff). Loving Grandma of Mackenzie, Morgan, and Blake Panabaker and later Natalie Kuehn and Dean Johnson, Robert and Lauren Panabaker, and Adam, Ryan, and Eric Hilker. Recently a Great grandmother to Finn and Gus.
The family relocated to Croxton Road in Old South, London in 1971. A true homemaker, Mom later enjoyed working at Xerox and is fondly remembered by many families for her years at Calvary Nursey School.
Dorothy was an active member of St. James Westminster Anglican Church for almost 50 years, and a dedicated community volunteer for many organizations. She was very proud of her association with, and was a Past President of, The May Court Club of London. Mom loved to travel, and she enjoyed many trips with Dad and then later with friends to numerous countries around the world. They also enjoyed great memories at the cottage in Rondeau Park.
The family is grateful for the caregivers at Elmwood Place and The Waverly.
Family and friends are welcomed for visitation on Wednesday, August 24, 2022 from 4-8 pm at the A. Millard George Funeral Home, 60 Ridout Street South, London. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 25, 2022 at 11 am at St. James Westminster Anglican Church, 115 Askin Street, London. Please note the Ridout Street bridge closure. So very sorry for your family’s loss. You were blessed to have her in your lives for so many years. May she rest most peacefully.
I have so many fond memories of Dorothy and Angela as they devoted so many years to make sure their church always had beautiful flowers each Sunday. Dorothy bought from my grandfather , then my mother and then me. So loyal, and I did flowers for her until I wasn’t in London any longer . Her love and devotion for her church and the beauty of flowers will remain my favourite memory of this sweet lady. My sincere sympathy. Sarah
Dorothy and I have been good friends since childhood. We went through public and high school together. Our group of friends saw each other all through our adult lives..
I’ll miss you Dorothy! I loved you. RIP

Dear Paul , Tom and families,
I send our condolences and am sorry I cannot join the celebration for you Mom’s life. I knew her, of course, a bit when we were young and connected with Camp. I was pleased to become reacquainted when I joined the parish of St. James Westminster in these last five or six years. I am sure you will miss her. I also know she leaves a wonderful legacy. Peace.
Paul, Tom, Karen and your families, I am so sorry for the loss of your mom. She was a fixture at St James. Deepest sympathy to you and your families.
We are so sorry to hear that Dorothy has passed away. She and Bob were such close friends of my (Janice) parents, and the four of them had many, many good times together in Temagami, at the cottage in Rondeau, in Scotland, at Christmas, Thanksgiving. Our deep condolences to all of you.
