I am sorry to hear about Mr Beitans (and of course Ms Beitans that I just heard about now). They were both kind people that hosted me for an afternoon of tea while I asked them questions about my grandfather and their time in Latvia. My thoughts are with you during this difficult time.
Our sympathy to the Beitans family on the loss of Arvid and also of Erica back in September. We just found out recently. They were a remarkable couple and we always enjoyed chatting with them as neighbours. So many interesting stories! Our neighbourhood will not be the same without them. May your memories sustain and comfort you. Cliff and Val Thomson
Scrolling through obits , It was shocking to realize that Arvids died earlier this year. My deepest condolences go out to his family and prayers for comfort during this sorrowful time. My memories of Arvids and his beautiful wife Erika began in my childhood attending Latvian community events. I grew to love the whole family of wonderful, talented , hard working people who remained friends for decades. It is so painful to experience the deaths of so many Londoners that were part and parcel of my growing years and onward. People I respected for their love and committment to regain Latvia’s re-independence and for Arvids and Erika to both have witnessed that is a blessing. Forever in my memories of Arvids , Erika and their fabulous family . Vieglas smiltis , Arvidam un Erikai! ????????????
I was so sorry to learn of Arvid Beitans passing and extend my deep condolences to his children and extended family. Arvids and his late wife Erika , and their children were some of our favourite people of our family growing up in London Ontario. They were dear friends and their incredible contributions to the cultural life of Latvians in London was greatly appreciated and respected by all who knew them.
It is incredibly sad to realize that so many of those who gave so much knowledge , love, passion and wisdom about our birthplace , Latvia and instilled in the next generation the same love and passion to help work for Latvia’s re-independence . Paldies, Arvid un novelu Tev vieglas smiltis.
