GRANT, Albert George “Bud” ….
Peacefully, with his daughter at his side at Strathroy and Middlesex General Hospital, Friday January 17, 2014. Albert George Grant “Bud” in his 94th year. Predeceased by his wife Norma, after 65 happy years of marriage. One daughter Pamela and her spouse Duncan Ramey, step grand children Tara, Adam (Maria) and Alicia Ramey and great grandchild Spencer Ramey. Dear brother of the late Norman and brother-in-law of Blanche and the late Stuart Land. Dear uncle of Janet and John (Dianne) Land of Victoria, Linda Tunks, Douglas, Gary and Peter Grant. Bud was born and raised in London, ON. He spent 4 years in the Royal Canadian Navy in the North Atlantic as a telegraph operator during the war and was promoted to SubLieutenant before being discharged. He married his high school sweetheart Norma Land on June 17, 1944. Bud worked as a tool maker at the Service Lamp company and later as maintenance manager at Phillips Electronics. A long time member of the Elmwood Bowling Club and a 25 yr Kiwanis member, he cherished the many friends he made throughout the years. After retiring Bud and Norma spent 18 wonderful winters in Arizona, making many good friends while enjoying golf and playing bridge. In 2009 Bud and Norma moved to Strathroy where, after Norma’s passing, he made many new friends and aquaintenences. Many summer afternoons were spent on his porch with his little dog Molly at his side. A very quiet and considerate man, Bud was well liked by all who met him. When asked if he had his life to live over again, he said he wouldn’t change a thing. A special thank you to the CCAC workers Helen and Jan who’s care and compassion for Bud was outstanding. Also to the staff of the SWM Hospital Emergency dept who made is final hours most comfortable. Friends will be received by the family one hour prior (Noon-1:00 pm) on Friday January 31, 2014 at the A. Millard George Funeral Home. 60 Ridout St S, London where the funeral service will be conducted in the chapel at 1:00 pm. Cremation has taken place. Dear Pam & Dunc, We were so suprised and very saddened to learn
of Uncle Buds sudden passing. We have been close for many years and although we live many miles away we kept in touch frequently. He was a great fellow, always interested in our activities, never missed a birthday or anniversary greeting. We will miss him a lot. We hope you find comfort during this tough time and will stay in touch with us when you can. Lots of love from John & Diane.
Pam…thinking of you fondly at this time…you were so devoted to your dad and looked after him so well. You were blessed to have him for so long.
Fondly …Audrey.
I’m sitting here in Florida and just read Buds obit. You know if we were home we would be at the memorial. we always enjoyed seeing him! even at his age his mind was still sharp and up on current events. Sincere condolences from lorries and I.
