Alice “Eileen” McKnight (nee Stokoe) …
Surrounded by her loving family and friends at University Hospital, Saturday, September 21, 2013, Eileen McKnight in her 86th year. Beloved wife and best friend of the late Norman McKnight. Dear mother of David McKnight (Lillian), Leigh McKnight (Virginia), Brian McKnight (Gwen), Lynn Whitty (Larry). Loving grandmother of Lindsay (Alex), Harley, Zoe, Halley, Lauren and Claire. Dear friend and sister of Barbara Peebles. Predeceased by infant daughter Laurie McKnight (1972) and son Stephen McKnight (1986) and her brother Donald Stokoe (2013). Loved by several nieces and nephews and their families and many friends. After raising her family, she reentered the work force in the 1970’s. For over 20 years she enjoyed a successful career at Revenue Canada. A lifelong member of United Church of Canada, after her retirement, she volunteered much of her time to her church and to various London organizations. When not volunteering or caring for her family, she discovered the wonderful world of travel which provided her with many new experiences and memories. She was a loving and generous mother, grandmother, and devoted friend to many. Friends will be received by the family from 2-4 and 7-9pm on Wednesday September 25, 2013 at the A. Millard George Funeral Home, 60 Ridout Street South, London. The funeral service will be conducted at Colborne Street United Church, 711 Colborne Street, London, on Thursday September 26, 2013 at 1pm. Interment in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, London. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the Colborne United Church – Mission Fund, 711 Colborne Street, London, ON N6A 3Z4 or St. Paul’s Daily Bread Program at St. Paul’s Cathedral, 472 Richmond St London, ON N6A 3E6.
