Obituary
WHITFIELD, Sadie Margaret (Elliott)….
On Wednesday, August 21, 2013, peacefully at Chartwell Riverside Retirement Residence, London, in her 97th year. Born in Clinton, Ontario, Sadie was the beloved wife for more than 70 years of Alec Whitfield (d. April 2013). Loving mother of Carol of Halifax, and David (Judy) of Toronto. Proud and loving grandmother of Katy and Emma (Remi). Survived by her brother Robert Elliott (Tavistock), and by sisters-in-law Lily Duerkop (Toronto) and Dora Gover (Thorndale), and brother-in-law Alan Whitfield (London). Predeceased by brothers James and Norman, and sister Lillian Mercer. A caring aunt to numerous nieces and nephews, Sadie will be missed by many special friends whom she loved dearly. She was a lifetime member of the U.C.W. at Centennial United Church and a member of Wesley-Knox United Church, London. Special thanks to Dr. Maria Parent and the EDITH palliative care team of VON PSWs and Nurses who supported our mother at the end of her life’s journey. Visitation will be held at the A. Millard George Funeral Home, 60 Ridout Street South, London, on Monday, August 26, 2013 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. The Memorial Service will be held at Wesley-Knox United Church, 91 Askin Street, London, N6C 1E7 on Tuesday, August 27, 2013 at 1:30 p.m. Private family interment in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, London. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to Canadian Aid for Southern Sudan (CASS) or to Wesley-Knox United Church Memorial Fund. Carol, David and Family:
While Betty and I only knew your Mother (and Father) for such as short time, having met them on the bus trip to Branson, we now have many good memories especially from all our “Branson Reunions”
We will always remember your Mother as we departed for home saying – “Happy Days”
Dear Whitfield family,
My thoughts & prayers are with you at this sad time.

We are so sorry that Sadie is not an active part of your lives, but we are sure she’ll always be with you in your hearts. Seeing her at your dad’s/grandfather’s funeral was a bright spot for us on a sad day. You were so very fortunate to have such wonderful parents with you for so long. We will miss Sadie and so sorry we can’t be with you at this time. Love, Bill & Maddie, Nathaniel (& Jayne) & Meghan Whitfield (Cambridge & Niagara-on-the-Lake).
