I was saddened to read of Roland’s passing in today’s paper. I did not know Roland well but he left an impression on me.
Roland and my father, Phil Orchard, shared a room together last fall at Parkwood on the 5th floor. Weekly I would bring my Dad’s chocolate lab ‘Bella’ into see him and as soon as we walked into the room the smile that lit up Roland’s face was as big as my Dad’s.
Bella was not quite 3yrs old when I was taking her to the hospital, and full of energy, jumping around and giving ‘kisses’…Roland didn’t mind at all, he wanted his fair share of kisses.
Please accept our sincerest condolences on you loss, he was a sweet man, and his smile will linger in my memory for a long while.
Take care…

I am saddened to hear of Roland’s passing. I was a neighbour of Roland’s for many years and when I moved away we kept in contact usually by mail. Roland was a wonderful human being and will be greatly missed by all those he touched.
My thoughts and prayers are with all of Roland’s family. He will be remembered fondly, as an inspiration to always be positive and kind to others. What a gentle and friendly soul.
Roland was a true English gentleman. He was always kind and thoughtful. As a fellow neighbour on Highway Ave. he will be greatly missed.
