Obituary
CCOCHRANE, Rick….
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Richard “Rick” Cochrane on Monday, December 10, 2012, at Victoria Hospital, London, in his 61st year. Beloved husband, best friend and soul mate of Susan (Fox) Cochrane for 33 years. Proud and loving father of Ashley Cochrane of Toronto and Erin Cochrane of Oakville. Brother of Linda Madden and her husband Raoul. Much adored son-in-law of the late Dorothea and Reg Fox, and even more adored son of Gordon and Dorothy Cochrane (Reg Sanders). Rick had a passion for life, food, friends, family, and of course his dog Mackie. He enjoyed spending his time golfing, travelling, reading and barbequing on his patio while enjoying the view. He touched the lives of many and will be greatly missed by his friends and family. Cremation has taken place. A memorial gathering will be held from 2:30-4:30pm on Saturday, December 15, 2012 at RiverBend Golf Community, 1200 Sandy Somerville Drive London, where the celebration of Rick’s life will begin at 3:30pm. In lieu of flowers we ask donations be made in Rick’s name to either the Ontario Wildlife Foundation, Box 1598, Peterborough, ON K9J 7S4 (www.ontwf.org/), SickKids Foundation, 525 University Avenue, 14th Floor, Toronto, ON M5G 2L3 (www.sickkidsfoundation.com/donate/), or the Royal Canadian Legion-Boissevain, 401 North Railway Street, Boissevain MB R0K 0F0. Dear Susan, Ashley and Erin,
Rick was a wonderfully kind man & mentor. He has had such a positive impact on all of the Brewers. My memories are numerous.
Kevin Brewer and family.
On behalf of the Brewer family in Calgary Alberta (Greg, Saori, Julia and Justin) I wish to express my sincere condolences to the Cochrane family on your loss. I remember well how Rick and Susan opened their home in Tokyo to me when I first arrived in Japan in 1994 to teach English. At that time, I was new to Japan and I deeply appreciated the generosity and hospitality shown to me. You made me feel “home away from home.” I also remember well how when my dear mother Karen died, the Cochrane family were there for us; in particular my father Jack. After I came back from Japan, Rick acted as a character reference for me as I applied for jobs at schools in Southern Ontario. Rick, I enjoyed talking to you and regret that I could not visit you in your final days. I thank you for your warm friendship in Oakville and Japan. It was a great pleasure to have known you.
Sincerely,
Greg Brewer
