Obituary
HENNING, Rudolf
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Rudolf Henning in his 84th year. Rudi passed away peacefully in his sleep at home early Sunday morning. He leaves behind his loving wife Susan Henning, his son Norman Henning and his wife Linda and his daughter Elaine Cooper. He was also the proud Opa to his granddaughters-Elizabeth Cooper (Diddums), Jennifer Henning (Sweetheart), and her partner Nelson and his daughter Kirsten, Tabbitha Mraish (Sally Sunshine), and her husband Abdel Mraish, Sabbrina Henning (Cuddles) and her partner David, and Mirriah Henning (Bright Eyes) and her partner Dan. He was also proud great -Opa to Patrick (Sparkie), Landon (Speedy), Marika (Sunbeam) and Annika (Moonbeam). He is predeceased by his granddaughter Angela (Sweet Dumpling), his brothers Gunther and Herbert and their spouses Ellen and Anita, respectively. He leaves behind his 2 sisters in Germany Elfrieda and Trudel and his brother-in-law James McNaughton and his partner Barbara. He was pleased to also be an honourary Opa to Ingo and Ann Marie Wolfert of Kingston. Rudi was an employee of the City of London for 29 years and enjoyed moving up the ranks to his final job as a City Planner. He had many fond memories of his years there and the people that he worked with. He was most proud of being “Opa” to his family and enjoyed the special place he had in their lives and the lives of their growing families. He had a good life filled with the love and respect of his family and the knowledge of how much he was loved and needed in our lives. He will be greatly missed. As per Rudi’s wishes, he will be cremated and a celebration of his life will be arranged at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Make a Wish Foundation, 307 Commissioners Road West, London, ON N6J 1Y4. Arrangements entrusted to the A. Millard George Funeral Home, London (519-433-5184). We’ll meet again on Blueberry Hill. Online condolences, memories and photographs shared at www.amgfh.com

I was so astonished to hear of my uncles passing. Uncle Rudi was to me, a fun loving man with a wonderful sense of humour. We was a devoted family man and his grandchildren were the light of his life. He will be missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with his entire family.

Opa, where do I start? You have left me with so many special memories, from coming to see us before bed when i was little, Strawberry’s and sugar, Our fashion shows
and plays we would put on for you and Oma that you would video tape, Christmas oh
how you loved Christmas, New Years every year we would come and the house would
be decorated for a party, playing card into the night, how with open arms you took kirsten in as a granddaugter and was always there when anyone needed anything. But the one main memory you have left me with, is what a proud, well-respected family man you were. Everyone in your life has so much love and respect for you and that reflects on our family. You have been a massive influence on us all.Thank for all the memories that i will continue to carry with me where ever I am. These are the greatest gifts you could have ever given me I love you so much Opa and we will all do a part in looking after my Oma for you. You will be missed by so many people,
love your Sweetheart XoXoXo.’
may you R.I.P Opa

We are sorry to hear about Onkel Rudi’s passing. I remember him most for the enjoyable nights of playing cards at his brother Gunther and Ellen house. I sometimes joined in with his family’s card night. He will be missed by all……….Peter and Karin Henning

Dear Opa
You are by far the kindest, most infuential man in my life. You have taught me what it is to be kind and generous. You have always been there for me no matter what it was for. Every memory I have of you is wonderful and or funny and I treasure them all like gold. I remember things like being carried out the bath, wrapped in a fluffy purple towel, and you asking “look what I found, Oma do you know who she belongs to?” and your fly away Peter fly away Paul trick (I didnt figure that out till I was way older) and many many more. Growing up you were more like a dad to me and I am forever grateful for that. You are such an unselfish person, you would give the shirt off your back for anyone who needed it or get the moon and the stars then carry the bucket because its to heavy. You touched and influenced more lives than can be counted. I am so happy that you got to be a part of Marika’s life and were able to be a part of her families life. You helped make sure they all knew how loved they all are and how special our relationhship with them is. I never thought the day would come when you wouldn’t be around, just because to me you are the rock that held this family together, whether it was at Christmas’s, birthdays, or get togethers. You always made sure we got along because I know how important family is to you and how much you loved us all! I could write for days about what you mean to me, but I will leave room for others to share! I Love You with all my hearts and tarts and I am eternally grateful to have had you in my life to help shape and influence who I am today and who I will become.
Rest In Peace Opa
I know your up there with Angela now driving around keeping a watch on all of us. I Love You
Fond memories and respect for Rudi. Enjoyed working with Rudi many winters. Deepest sympathy.
From our laughs we shared, to the cognac bottles we emptied. Opa you took my daughter in as your own great granddaughter without a second thought and you always made us feel right at home. You lived and extraordinary life and you have inspired us with you wisdom and great stories. May we raise a glass to Opa, a man of great accomplishments, to a captain, a father, a grandfather, a great grandfather, and most importantly a loving husband. To the angoraian rabbit we will share one day. We love you Opa!
We send our love and heartfelt sympathy to all of you. We have so many wonderful memories of Opa…ones that made us laugh so hard and ones that made our hearts overflow from the love he gave. Opa will forever remain in our hearts. He was a man who loved Marika and our whole family. Ingo will never drink cognac without raising his glass to the Heavens. Anne Marie will never forget our last, sweet phone call about how grateful we each were for our special connection in this life. The girls will always feel his love, and remember him putting bananas on his head to make them laugh.
Keep a watch over us with Angela.
Rest in peace Opa.
Love Ingo, Anne Marie, Marika & Annika
To Susan and the Henning team, you may not see the captain but you can be sure he’s watching down on you, we miss him too, if we’d had a dollar for every time he drove in and out that driveway on his errands, we’d be millionaires. He was our “Rudi” on the street, and a beloved person. Our heartfelt wishes to you all.
