Obituary
BAMFORTH, Annie Isabel
Peacefully at Aurora Resthaven, Aurora on Monday, June 13, 2011 Isabel (McIntosh) Bamforth just short of her 91st birthday that would have been celebrated on Thursday, June 16th. Predeceased by her husband Lloyd (‘Bam’), son Rae and sister Velma. Loved mother of Gerald of Vancouver, Jay (Julie) of Aurora and Julie (Ernest) Burden of Calgary and marvelous Nana to Jordan, Jenna and Jessa. Isabel was born in Lobo Township, spent her childhood in Ilderton and graduated from St. Joseph’s Hospital (London) School of Nursing in 1942. Isabel and Bam lived in London, Goderich, Hanover and Cambridge making long-lasting friendships along the way. Isabel was active in the Hospital Auxiliaries in all the communities she lived and made significant contributions to those organizations. Isabel was a passionate volunteer with the Canadian Cancer Society for over two decades. She created the Reach to Recover Program and brought it to women throughout Ontario. In her later years with the CCS, she worked tirelessly to restructure the Ontario Division Regions and Units and always did her work with cancer patients on the top of her mind. In 1993 Isabel was awarded the Commemorative Medal for the 125th Anniversary of Canadian Confederation by the Governor General, given to those persons who have made significant contributions to Canada, their community and their fellow Canadians. A graveside burial will be conducted at Woodland Cemetery, London on Friday, June 17, 2011 at 1:00 pm. As an expression of sympathy, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, 123 St. George Street, London, ON N6A 3A1 or the Kidney Foundation of Canada, Suite 119- 379, Dundas Street, London, ON N6B 1V5 would be appreciated.
