Ken was born and raised in Owen Sound, where he met the love of his life Shirley. An avid sportsman, he played professional lacrosse, loved to fish for trout in the streams in and around Owen Sound and on Manitoulin Island. He treasured his times at their cottage in Providence Bay, fondly referred to as God’s country. Ken served during WWII with the RCAF. He was past member of the RCAF Association, Royal Canadian Legion – Victory Branch and the Heritage Club of Canada Post. Ken lived by the motto “live well, laugh often, love much”. Cremation has taken place. Friends will be received by the family from 3-5 and 7-9pm on Saturday, June 25, 2011 at the A. Aunt Shirley and all the family, our deepest condolences. Uncle Ken with his gorgeous full head of hair will always be remembered in a very special way to all of us who knew and loved him.
It was a joy to experience the love that was openly shared between Aunt Shirley and Uncle Ken. Always holding hands, the love for each other shining out of their eyes for everyone to see. Thank you for being the wonderful example of a married couple to all of us. May God bless you and give you His love and comfort to carry you through this time. We love you all.

Dear Shirley,
So many memories have been mine since reading Ken’s obituary notice in the Sun Times and seeing his picture.
The years have fallen away since the Hayward’s lived on the west hill, just above where we were on Fourth Ave. in the valley.
I’m so glad we had the chance to recall “old times” when we were together at Bob’s Sauble Beach cottage.
My sense is that lacrosse sticks have been dusted off and Ken, Clyde, “Flip” Harris and so many others are playing a game in another place, laughing over their memories, and happy in the thought that we are living with ours.
With sympathy and warm thoughts around you and Owen Sound’s very special “Ken”
Love,
Ann
