Obituary
GARNAITIS, Alfred…
Born in Lithuania in March 1928, immigrating to Canada in the 1960’s, raising a family and taking on the role of father, grandfather, friend and life-long partner of Mary. Alfred was released from his pain late on Tuesday, April 5, 2011 at University Hospital. Alfred is survived by his wife Mary (Dean) Garnaitis, son Roger, daughter-in-law Barbara and three grandchildren Nigel, Rachel and Leah. He will be missed in many ways by his family and the unnumbered individuals who received a hand of friendship, cup of coffee or stories from his long history of work and experience. Alfred was a kind and generous individual taking uncountable opportunities to help those who were left on the side lines of life. After retiring from the City of London – Operations Department, he volunteered his time at Parkwood and University Hospitals for a 14 year period until his health could not meet the daily demands. Cremation has taken place. There will be a visitation on Friday, April 8, 2011 from 7-9 pm at A. Millard George Funeral Home, 60 Ridout Street South, London. A celebration of Alfred’s life will be held in the funeral home chapel on Saturday, April 9, 2011 at 10:30am. Spring interment in Woodland Cemetery, London. Dear Roger and Family – Our prayers go out to you and your family at this very difficult time. Having recently lost my father as well I can certainly emphathize with you – If I can offer any form of advice it is to not linger on the difficult periods but to remember the great times you had with your Dad … Dan
