Obituary
WELCH: Michael Charles….Just before dawn on Saturday, February 5th, 2011, the kindest, gentlest heart came to rest. At South Huron Hospital in Exeter, succumbing to a cruel disease, Michael, age 61 years, passed away leaving to grieve his wife of 40 years, Carole, his daughter Jennifer (Mike) and his son, Tony. Also his two lovely granddaughters, Avery and Emily, who will never get to know the best grandfather ever. Friends, family and work associates will all miss Mike’s quirky humour and loyalty but will have many laugh-filled memories of him. A gathering to remember Mike and share memories will be held at a later date. Many, many thanks to all the medical personnel involved in Mike’s care which was delivered with the utmost care and compassion. We request that any donations in Mike’s memory be made to the London Regional Cancer Program, 747 Baseline Road East, London, ON N6C 2R6 or the Sarnia-Lambton CCAC, 1150 Pontiac Drive, P.O. Box 185, Sarnia, ON N7T 7H9. He will be so missed, by so many. Online condolences accepted at www.amgfh.com (A. Millard George Funeral Home entrusted with arrangements 1-519-433-5184)

Having known Mike since I was about 9 years old, there was never a time that I didn’t look forward to seeing him, because I always knew laughter wasn’t far behind.
The world’s a sadder place today. He truly will be missed.
All my sympathies to Carol and the family.
David
Dearest Carole and family of Mike( as many of us knew him). I cannot remember one time when we would all meet where Mike did not bring out bursts of laughter. He was all about JOY. He just knew the right words, that special hug that would have you endeared to him. Today my heart is heavy, but I know do know as much, there is a bit of Mike left in all of us. (I think that was his plan) Never forgotten, our dear Mike, never.Bless you all!

Hi Carole:
I want you to know that I have thought about you and Mike a great deal these past few months. I had the great pleasure of knowing Mike for 20 years. He was one of a kind – a “character” in the nicest sense of the word. I don’t think I will ever meet a kinder, gentler, funnier or more content man. I will think of him often, and it will always be with a smile.

Dear Carole and family,
I am so sorry for your loss. I know Mike mostly from Kimberly-Clark sales meetings. I work in the U.S. and didn’t have occasion to see or talk to Mike much during the year. However, we always got together at sales meetings and compared notes, had a few laughs and drank a few cold refreshments together. I always looked forward to seeing Mike and will miss him at the next K-C meeting. My dad passed away from pancreatic CA in 2004 and I know that it must have been a battle for you and Mike! What a great photo of Mike!

Carole & Family,
I’m very sorry to hear of your loss and and the heartache you must be facing. Although not family, those who knew Mike from his work at Kimberly Clark will certainly miss his presence as well. His smile was contageous and his heart warm.

Dear Carol and Family,
I was saddened by the news I received today that Mike had passed away. I was a work colleague of Mike’s for the last 15 years. I must say that my fondest memories and greatest laughs were when I was working with Mike. There were times when seeing clients that I had tears running because he made me laugh so hard. We will all surely miss his great sense of humour and in a world where people take themselves to seriously, Mike found the light side in everything and made sure he was going to have a good time doing it.
Dear Carol and family.
My thoughts and prayers are with you during this most difficult time. Even though I didn’t have the pleasure of meeting Mike, from his photo and reading the condolences, I get the sense that he radiated great joy and love. What fond memories you will have.

Hello Carole:
I’m out of the country and was so saddened when I read about Mike’s death on-line today. It has been such a difficult struggle these past months for everyone. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
How I loved this wonderful man. His kindness and caring nature was a treasure for all of us in the company, especially for me. He worked very hard and gave it all and was outstanding at his work. I will forever remember his heart, his beautiful eyes and great smile. Love you forever Mike. Marianne
Just want you to know Carole, my thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time.
Dear Carol and family,
I heard yesterday the terrible news and have spent a lot of time reflecting on all the wonderful memories I have of him and you and the times we had so many years ago. I haven’t seen either of you for many years but the loss is just a real. We were young once and the whole world was at our feet, how fast 40 years goes by! What can anyone say to assuage your feelings of grief, just know that many loved him and will honor his memory. Please contact me when a date is set for a memorial. Love Brian
Our condolences to your family and friends, Mike. Even though we hadn’t seen you in many years, we still remember when you were best man at Brian and Marg’s wedding. This dreaded disease has claimed yet another victim at too early an age. Rest in Peace.
Dear Carole,
Hope you find some comfort knowing your family and friends are with you. My sincere sympathy.
Dear Carole,
My prayers and thoughts to all of you who Mike so loved. My life is better for having spent time with him. May God bless you and keep you all in his care.
Carole,
Thinking about you and your family at this time. You are in my prayers. Take care.

Carole and family
Sincerely sorry to hear of your great loss. Hold your wonderful memories close to your heart.

As many of the salespeople from Kimberly-Clark have already expressed, I dealt mainly with Mike at our National Sales Meetings. However, we would usually find occasion during the year to speak and e-mail one another. The world cannot afford to lose good souls like Mike. I want his wife and children to know that his wit and good nature will be greatly missed by his busines family also. May God grant you serenity and peace.
I had the great pleasure of working with the “Welchman” for several years. I met Mike 20 odd years ago and always looked forward to his company especially his irreverent laugh and attitude. He could always find something positive.
Cheers my friend.
Carole and Family, I was very sad to hear the news from Terry. Mike will be sadly missed but he will be well remembered by those that knew him. I will always chuckle when I think of the 7 am golf games I was fortunate enough to share with Mike and the GB guys. Matt Allan
It is with deep sadness that we extend our sympathy to Mike’s family.
Rick remembers the great Port Stanley “runs” and the wonderful times shared with Dick and the Boys. Within Mike’s presence there was always laughter.
A great fella and a good friend, Lizzard, I’ll miss you.
Although it’s difficult today to see beyond the sorrow, May looking back in memory help comfort you tomorrow. My condolences to all of the Welch family.
