Obituary
MITCHELL, Shirley…..Peacefully, and comforted by her immediate family, at Victoria Hospital, London, on Thursday, October 7, 2010. Shirley Phyllis (Deekon) Mitchell of London, in her 80th year. Beloved wife of Donald W. Mitchell. Together they celebrated 58 years of marriage this past July. Dear mother of Mike (Helen), Teri Wallace (Dave), Marty and Mark (Stephanie). Dear sister of Ralph Deekon (Ann). She was adored and loved and shall be greatly missed by her grandchildren, Jesse (Shawn), Luke, Cody (Kendall), Derek (Billie Jo), Parker, Reid, Tyler, Jenna, Kailey, Sean, Keira, and her great-grandchildren Drew, Joshua, Allie and Reese. Our family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of Victoria Hospital for the care and kindness shown to Mom in her time of need. Cremation has taken place. A kind and caring person, Mom made many friends during her lifetime. But Mom was also a very private person and it was her final wish that a small family celebration of her life take the place of a memorial service. In remembering Shirley, and in lieu of flowers, we would ask that donations be made to London Health Sciences Foundation, 747 Baseline Road East, London, Ontario N6C 2R6. Mom was a shining light in our family. Her character, strength, guidance and love shall live on with each of us. Condolences may also be made at www.amgfh.com (A. Millard George Funeral Home entrusted with arrangements 519-433-5184).

I work at Tim Hortons on Southdale and Wonderland. I just want to tell Don how sorry to hear of Shirley passing. She was a sweet lady and one of my favorite customers. My thought are with Don and the rest of the family Bernadette

Dear Don and Family,
I was deeply saddened to read today that Shirley had passed away. The obituary is a true reflection of Shirley. She was a true and great friend of my Mother who passed away in April of 2005. My Mom thought the world of Shirley. During my Mom’s illness both Don and Shirley were there offering support to my sister, brother and I, and we were deeply touched.
Also Don and my Dad were co-workers and friends for a great many years and when he passed away in October of 1998, both Don and Shirley were always close by offering their kindess and support in so many ways. I have thought about Shirley often during the past 5 years.
My heartfelt and deepest condolences to Don and your Family at this difficult time.
She was a truly great lady, so kind, caring and thoughtful and “youthful” … and she will always remain in my memory.
Most sincerely,
Linda Buckholz
P.S. I am a Facebook member and tried to find the Memorial Page this evening and could not find it. I will try again.

Thinking of you. Whenever I saw her I always enjoyed our talks sharing what was happening with our children.

God makes the most wonderful people, then lovingly shows them the way to share all their gifts and their caring to brighten the world day by day. They make such a difference to others with a visit, a card, or a call- God chooses these wonderful people to be the best blessing of all.
In sympathy. In our thoughts and chrished memories. Our loved ones are always with us. At such a time words always seem like futile things…But may you feel the sympathy this heartfelt message brings.
