I would like to express my condolences to the family of Allan Cox on his passing. As an art instructor in the Wood Studio of Veterans Arts at Parkwood Hospital, I worked with Allan twice a week for several years. I enjoyed working with him very much. He was always a very pleasant and courteous man. Other words that come to mind when describing Allan are: gentle, unassuming, reserved, modest, a gentleman. We shared a nice commonality: both of us had our roots in Hamilton; in fact, Allan attended school with my uncle, Hardy Awrey.
I will miss Allan’s presence in my wood shop, but it’s nice to know that he will be laid to rest where my father and other members of my family are buried.
A small photo album and several wood items that were made by Allan are available for family members, should they like to have them.
