My memory of George is very special. My first G and S was The Mikado in 2004. George was so helpful, kind, funny and had such a warm heart. His props were wonderful, his voice lovely and his spirit, a true gentleman.

George was an excellent and skilled instrument maker in the cancer centre for many years and was very helpful during the move from South street to the new facility at Commissioners road. We missed him when he retired since he shared his knowledge and experiences with us and put colour in our life.
I had the privilege of meeting George through the UWO G&S Society many, many years ago. As already mentioned, his prop-making abilities were legendary (the executioner’s axe for ‘Yeomen of the Guard’ stands out in my memory in particular!) and he and Jacquie’s staunch support of G&S is fondly remembered.
My particular favorite memento of George and G&S is an abstract sculpture he presented me with on the occasion of a production of ‘Ruddigore’. He entitled it ‘The Night Wind Howls’. It was composed of Wood’s Metal: a low melting point alloy used at the Cancer Clinic where he was working at the time. It had slowly dripped from a faucet overnight, forming a sculpture that resembled ragged clothing flapping in the wind. I still treasure that piece, along with my memories of George.
My sincere condolences to Jacquie and his family.
I will miss my chat and correspondence with George. He always had an interesting story to tell and his cheerfullness and smile will always be remembered. I always remember Ethel reminiscing how George and Eric used to torment my Dad when they were evacuated. ‘Watch out for those owls now!’ Rest in peace George.
Jacqueline and family, our sincere condolences to you all, our prayers and thoughts are with you at this time.
Love and prayers from across the water,
Andrew Julie Rachel and Matthew.
Our fond memories and love for you will be carried forever. We will really miss your contact imparting your humour and laughter. The happy times we shared will always be remembered.
Love from us all
Joyce, Aubrey, Janine, Clive, Thomas and Amy
